There was a local seafood chain in San Antonio called Barnacle Bill's that is now defunct. They were started by Bill Miller
as a local seafood place as San Antonio has really very few seafood places, out side of Red Lobster and Pappadeux. The only other local fish chain i know of is Fred's Fish Fry.
barnacle Bill's was later sold to relatives of Bill Miller, who ran it as a seperate company from Bill Miller's BBQ chain.
Yesterday, the chain closed its doors for unknown reasons and the employees were not given any notice. The local news stations have tried to talk to the owners, but no response. The place was open on Mother's Day according to the media.
I guess they were having money problems or something.
I ate at the one at Loop1604 and US Hwy 281 and it was pretty good. I liked it,but the place was somewhat far from where I live.
The employees were told they could pick up their final checks at the Bill Miller's headquaters. Really stinks they didn't tell them ahead of time.
Another local chain that closed here a number of years ago was Harvest Home.Their food wasn't bad,and they were kind of like Boston Market. Now the one on Walzem is a China Rose.Have to try the place sometime.
