Looking for a Punch Recipe Sat, 11/29/08 12:03 PM (permalink)
I am looking for a punch recipe for this wonderful punch that my Grandmother made every Christmas - as I remember - there were 2 cans of pineapple juice - combined with something that made it purple, and was put back into the cans and frozen - the frozen block would then be placed in the punch bowl, and ginger ale dumped over it. As I recall, one of the ingredients was Almond Extract. Anybody got the recipe for this punch?

Mike does this recipe sound similar ?

    WEDDING PUNCH
    Makes 100 servings

    6 c. sugar
    4 c. water
4 reg. pkgs. Jello (choose flavor
    according to color)
6 oz. frozen lemon juice (NOT LEMONADE)
    6 oz. frozen orange juice
    2 lg. cans pineapple juice
    1 gal. water
    Ginger ale

Make a syrup of sugar and water. While hot, add Jello. Let cool. Mix juices. Add 1 gallon water. Add Jello. This freezes well. (I use gallon milk jugs.) When ready to use, add ginger ale - 3/4 bottle to 1 gallon. May use as drink or "slush". Lemon is a good flavor and color.

Combine cranberry juice, almond extract and pineapple juice. Freeze.
Pour gingerale into bowl. Float cranberry-pineapple-almond extract block on top. Almond punch bowl.

Thanks! I think this is the one with the Cranberry juice - I don't think it had Jello, although that would probably be good as well. Do you know the amounts of juices/extract to use?

Use your 2 cans of pineapple juice to 1 large bottle cranberry, 1 tsp almond extract to freeze a large block, you need a large bowl or container to pour all in and freeze. Pour 1 liter bottle of regular ginger ale in the bowl, float the block, or you can use separate containers to freeze all too.
