Looking for a candy Thu, 02/16/06 6:16 PM (permalink)
There used to be this candy that my grandmother and I used to buy back in the 80's. We got it from Walgreen's. It came in a pound bag. Each piece was about an inch long and rectangular. It had a crunchy peanut butter center and tons of toasted coconut on the outside. It was light brown. I have been looking for it for months now and can't find it. Walgreens doesn't have it anymore.
Some people think it was some candy called Chicken Bones. But I don't think that was what it was called.
I thought maybe the candy experts might know. So I thought I'd ask ya'll

Some say ChickOsticks use to be called chicken bones .. some places sell chicken bones that are pink cinnamon candy with choc filling .. others sell very pricey candy called chicken bones PB and coconut that is not the same quality .. In Michigan ppl are still buying chicken bones that sound as you descibe ... near Detroit area

here are links to 2 diff. kinds .. but not the Detroit kind
(good luck I spent oodles of $$ only to get the crappy kind)

It sounds like what you are talking about is like a zagnut candy bar and those are delicious. They also have an identical product at our local grocery store called Peanut Butter logs that you can buy in the bulk food section and they are identical in description to what you are looking for. They are rectangular and are peanut butter inside and coconut on the outside. Hope this helps.

Where I saw them in the grocery store they were called Peanut Butter Logs and behind them in quotation marks it says "Zagnuts". They are about 1" by almost 2" long and are delicious. They pretty much melt in your mouth. I love Zagnut bars, but the smaller version is even better.

I dont think PB logs have toasted coconut on the outside.
I am familiar with Toms PB logs, which have no coconut.http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/candy_cat.asp?abc=1&char=T&id=761
