Looking for a comparable hot dog to a saugy

Hello,
Im originally from Rhode Island, living in florida.  I was wondering if anyone knew of a hot dog that is comparable in taste to a saugy, to me there isnt any better then a saugy, unfortunately from here i cant get them witout paying an arm and a leg to have them shipped from saugy.

Thanks
Jeff

I have never heard of or seen saugy frankfurters in the NY area. Not sure if they could compete with Sabrett , Nathans, Thumans, Boars Head and all the other brands in N.Y  but if they have snap in natural casings I would give them a try.  They obviously didn't make it too far from there home state of Rhode Island.

They are not sold in the N.Y./N.J. area or in Florida. Someone from the company was kind enough to send me some to sample about 2 years ago. They are a quality beef and pork dog similar to some of the better beef and pork dogs in New England. They have a slight peppery taste in the background like Sahlen's.

Thanks John F for your expertise on this subject. We are all in search of a good new dog to try. Florida sounds like they have a real shortage of tasty dogs.    Buddy

Hmm, that's odd. Doesn't take me but a couple of minutes to find good hot dogs. Along with all of the national brands, Nathans, Boars Head, Herbrew National, etc, we have a couple of family owned deli's that make their own .
