Looking for suggestions for Galesburg, IL and Davenport, IA

I will be spending the July 4th weekend in Galesburg, IL and Davenport, IA.  I would appreciate receiving suggestions for places to eat.  (Galesburg is my home town but I have not lived there for over 40 years.)

In the Quad Cities area there is also a local chain of pizza/ice cream places called Happy Joe's that I happen to like.  Their special is a Canadian bacon & sauerkraut pizza which sounds weird but tastes great:

Even though I live relatively close to Galesburg, I seldom get over there.  Try doing a search on here under "Where Should I Eat?".

Thank you 6star for your suggestions.  I had forgotten about Happy Joe's Pizza.  They were a favorite when we lived in Iowa many years ago.

Ahh Happy Joe's.  Sadly, they are all but extinct in central Iowa these days.  They were huge back in my youth.  :)

I say, since you are in Davenport, try the original Machine Shed Restaurant.  We used to drive over to the Quad cities when I was young and make a day trip of it.  Stop at Machine Shed for breakfast, go sight see, spend the night, then hit it on the way out for dinner.

The one in Des Moines isn't my favorite place, but I am trying to be open minded.  If that one is still as good as it once was, it is worth a stop.
