More likely it was a response to the sweetness of spirit and the courage of heart they saw in you. Anyhow, welcome home!

Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN Well, I figure that after a couple of years of Red's harassment here -- her many months of posting derogatory comments about my tastes in food, clothes, motor vehicles, my ability with a shotgun, my grouse hunting, my bass fishing technique, not to mention the way I apply Bandaids to the cuts she inflicts via this website, I have a license. So that's why I had to say that.

Michael and everyone else... I don't think most folks on the boards understand that Mr Hoffman has a soft spot in that nasty old heart of his for the "Florence Nightingale" of West-By God-Virginia. His attempts at Grouchy Old Man Humor are mis-interpreted by some. Sorry to ruin your image Hoffman, but People were starting to stick pins in their M H dolls, so I am trying to save your life!! Topic edited to avoid misunderstandings (again)

Florence Nightengale??? Jeanne D'Arc at the very least! I just saw the original statements a few minutes ago, and I was tempted to let them stand for a while, just to see old crusty curmudgeon Hoffman squirm, but Al rectified things. Thank you my knights in shining armour for coming to my defense, but if truth be known, despite mine and Hoffman's hurling of epithets, insults and general nastiness at each other, it's all done in admittedly perverse fun. Think of Jane Curtin and Chevy Chase on Saturday night Live........"Jane you ignorant sl**!" or Shana Alexander and old whatshisname(can't think of it at the moment. Just imagine we two in our own sitcom......."Everyone Loves Hoffman"

How dare you suggest that I'm anything like James Kilpatrick? That sumbitch is old and ugly. I, on the other hand, am, well, not old.

I think you guys have missed the classic comparison for this Duo... Think more of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor... Not in Cleopatra, but as the couple in Who's afraid of Virgina Wolf. OR MAYBE, Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln ( ) Bonnie and Clyde ??? ?? The Sheriff of Nottingham (NOT Robin Hood) and Lady Marion And the list goes on...and on...
