Louisiana Festivals

I think it would be nice to have a by-state listings of festivals. Since I live in Natchitoches, I'll kick one off with a notice of ourZydeco and Meat Pie festivals. Come on down and give me a call! A more comprehensive link to Natchitoches festivals can be found here. Click on News > Local Festivals when you get there. Finally, per Mr. Mayor's suggestion (below), here's a link to our state event list, which seems to include a bunch of other stuff as well.

Thanks for the connections Rick. Last week I asked about Carolina and VA festivals coming up...I got a link to the Georgia , VA and Caolina Tourism sites...There were ten pages of Festivals and descriptions for Georgia in September alone !! I think each state has some kind of a roster of these events on the state website. Maybe we can list out the places to find the lists of stuff for each of the states. I thought about limiting that to food-related festivals, but that would eliminate a ton of events with fun activities for some of us, and food is involved in almost ALL of festival programs.

RickF and Jan were more than generous when they sent us (in Alaska) a chache of Meat Pies from Lasyone's in Natchitoches. And we thought Jazz Fest in NOLA was great....I'd give anything to attend a Natchitoches festival! Those meat pies were KILLER!

The Sundancer was in Natchitoches last year a few days before the meat pie festival began. I had the meat pies downtown where I suppose they originated at. The town is beautiful and the location right on the river is quite a sight. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Perhaps another Mini-Roadfood Convention would be in order in Natchitoches?? Even though the freezer is full of meat pies I could be pursuaded to attend the festival!!

I think the Sundancer has got it wrong but I hope it is prounanced "nak-O-tish". Rick, please excuse me if I got it wrong and i am sure that you will correct me. I cannot wait to be there for the meat festival. My curiosity has got the best of me. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN

Sundancer, you got the pronounciation right! It only took me hours of repeating it to finally say it correctly!
