    Marco
Are you a fabricator or just working your tail off and learning as you go like the rest of us? Looks good. What kind of food are you going to serve?

I noticed your post on the Hot Dog forum where you asked "can put an air cooled generator in a box or in an enclosed  space. Do i really need a liquid cooled generator?

The answer is NO but you need to keep it cool I have read some articles online about building a box and using a fan to blow the hot air out, not cool air in as most people think. But can't find them right now. Maybe someone else will have a link for you.

    Jack,
no i am not the fabricator i am learnig as i go.
got a lot of good advice here. we plan to put the generator in the black box you see in the pic.
we will be hooking up a fan so it goes on when the generator is on.
also talking about tying the exhaust sytem into the existing truck exhaust.
i will be seving goumet comfort food. including pulled pork sandwhich.

"Talking about tying the exhaust system into the existing truck exhaust."

I wrote about that here on RF did you read that thread? The longer the exhaust on your generator the better for the generator and for quietness. So if your generator is in the back of the truck and you run iron pipe from the generator to the rear of the engine and then into your truck exhaust you'll have a win, win, situation.

"I will be serving gourmet comfort food. including pulled pork sandwich."

I ate at Bogart's  in St Louis yesterday and had an amazing pulled pork sandwich and great pastrami however their sauce sucks. But I very seldom eat BBQ with sauce on it. All in all it was Very good food.

Slick looking rig, building it will be a great cost saving measure and you will know how to repair or replace if anything goes wrong.

Venting the exhaust away will help a great deal, nothing runs customers away like a loud generator so I am told.

I ordered my tanks from Tank Depot online. Plumbing will be standard home depot parts. Six gallon Atwood water heater undermounted, shurflo water pump and expansion tank.
There might be a little concern with running the generator and engine at the same time. With the same exhaust pipe that is. Back pressure to genrtr might get too high and cause heat build up and poor performance. Doubt u will be in that situation though.
Sorry if I missed it, where did u source ur hood?
I think I looked at that truck when I was in the mrkt!

As for my plumbing i went to homedepot. I'm using 1.5 inch plumbing to the waste tank. I talked to the state to see if there is any code or anything about MFF plumbing and they said "as long as it works and you have a check valve (back flow preventer) then its good to go". I followed Reese77 plumbing ideas. I have on my truck a 21 and 30 gal FDA fresh h2o tank. The 30 gal tank i'm making into my "waste" tank. Cause an RV tank was crazy money and the sizes wouldnt work for under the truck without hitting something. So i'm just going to make the fresh one work. lol But that is a good idea talking to an RV guy. We really need to meet up!!!

Since both you & he are in a relartively small business area, I doubt he would "Work you over". How long has he been in business? The fact that he wants you to do an event for him indicates he's probably on the up & up. He wouldn't ask you to show up this summer if he was just trying to take you. There's enough info on the internet so that you can compare prices.

Purple Cheetah Did you go to Challenger Door and pick up your stuff or have them ship it? What are the dimensions on your window and how much did they charge you for your window?

Marco,  what is the distance between the wall supports in your step van and how wide is each support?  And (lol) where did you buy your window, what are the dimensions on your window, and how much did they charge you?

I first dealt with Challenger Door Company in northern Indiana several years ago and I was very very impressed with the aluminum, and  stainless steel cabinet doors they were building back then. But I think I posted about them several times here on RF and the phone number for Challenger Door Company is 574-773-0470 in case any one needs it.

Ok when you go to Challenger Door to pick up your window ask them if they have some standard prices on windows. Like standard prices for a ___X_____ = $ . Do you understand what I'm looking for? LOL Something that will give the builders here a price to compare with other companies. Their prices and what I have seen of there product is far superior to anyone else in the concession window business. Also if I'm not over stepping my bounds here take some pictures of any products they have built and sitting in their office. Hell if they will let you (and again if you don't feel good about this forget it) ask for a factory tour and shoot some photos and post them here. It would be a great report and a real asset to anyone building a trailer or truck, but in asking always remember their religious affiliation. And last but not least tell them the Doctor of BBQ loves their products and I'll be calling them with another order in a month.
    thanks
