MOONLITE BBQ Update 7/7/06 Fri, 07/7/06 9:03 PM (permalink)
We hadn't been back to the Moonlite BBQ in Owensboro KY since we took a touring group of Motorcyclists (about 50 of them) to lunch at the end of April.
Patrick Bosley, one of the owners told us then they were in the process of adding to the 'Seafood' Menu that is part of the Friday evening Buffet offerings. Well, they have indeed added to the variety and make the Friday Evening meal even better than it was (AND it has been very good!)

In addition to the usual BBQ items and hot veggies they have Fried Shrimp, Fried Whole (headless) Catfish & Catfish filets, Fried Oysters and Country Ham and Bisquits. On the salad and dessert side they have added a seafood fettichini(SP?) and Seafood and Shrimp salads. To the wide selection of Pies add a chocolate eclair custard 'dessert' and a great new soft-serve mix that has a real smooth texture to what used to be an ice-milk recipe. Putting a large scoop of Blackberry Cobbler in a bowl, adding a scoop of fresh strawberries from the shortcake ingredients, and then a bit of the new 'soft-serve' made one heck of a berry dessert!

We drove down this evening and were amazed at the lite-crisp texture of the fried Oysters. I think between the 4 of us at least 8 dozen oysters bit the dust. This is the first time ever for me, that I put the Oysters before the Ribs for my selection as I 'visited' the buffet line.

This was an excellent dinner and the total bill for all 4 was $75. A friday nite buffet-dinner in Kentucky worth the drive.

So when is the next Glee Club Meeting, Mr. Mayor? Moonlite is in range for me from both MI and GA!

Al, the place is great for BBQ but I think i would do the trip for the oysters.

      Thanks for the update.

I know it is just a seasonal addition, but seeing those 1/2 inch thick slices of large very-red tomatoes on a plate next to the bowl of Potato Salad was a nice touch of "Summer Picnic" ambience. They were delicious!

The only thing I hate from a bountiful buffet as described by Al is that at my age, I get so full so quick and cannot enjoy all that is offered. Moonlite rocks and thanks to Al, I found it.
