I met this gentleman at my local Q joint up here in Freeport. He is a bit further north of me, and seems to have an interesting thing going. He is closed winter, and as a matter of fact, he had stopped into Buck's Naked BBQ here to talk to the owner to give him some leftover wood that he had. Nice guy, so if you are up in that part of the world in the summertime, stop in and try it out! I will if I am still here come summer. http://www.oldekennebec.com/index.htm

All true anachronisms, But in one of those weird circumstances where mood and the fates are working only to make you happy, I had a really great pastrami sandwich in Maine many years ago. So long ago, actually, that I'm not sure what town it was...but probably Boothbay Harbor, if that makes sense. The pastrami was lightly fried and placed on a thick chunk of black bread. Ate it with mustard and some sort of faux dill pickle. Good variation on a theme, unpretentious...its own trip. I was on the deck of the restaurant, the car looked good with the ocean in the background, sun glistening everything, I was younger, and you can fill in the rest. The Bear

ScreenBear: Good point. One of my greatest childhood food memories is a New Year's Eve pig roast on Cushman Pond in Lovell, at a "camp" we had to snowmobile into. Old Mainiacs had been cooking it (and their livers) for at least a day, in the snow, and I remember it as the best tasting pork of my life. On the other hand, it's nice to know someone in New England is trying to make a reasonable 'cue.
