Major Cable TV Network Casting Restaurant Expert Now! Thu, 04/28/11 3:19 PM (permalink)

I'm a producer with Lusid Media, creators of the top rated show, "United Tastes of America" on the Cooking Channel. We're casting immediately for a new & exciting show with The Food Network. Seeking a "Restaurant Expert" with the personality and savvy of Gordon Ramsay meets the cool appearance of Billy the Exterminator!

Premise of the Show: Your job is to give tough love to struggling restaurants in order to help them improve. Think Kitchen/Restaurant Boot Camp. If you or anyone you know fits the description below please tell them about this opportunity.

Seeking:
  • Male that appears between the ages of 35-50's (preferably with a genuine Southern accent but not mandatory.)
  • Someone with expertise in food safety & restaurant management.
  • Someone who can kick some butt in the kitchen when things are not right.
  • Someone who is LOUD, with a BIG personality.
  • Someone who might even be obnoxious.
  • Someone who comes out swinging.
If you or someone you know fit this profile, and think you have what it takes to be part of a hit TV show, please send us a short video, no longer than 5 minutes.
Video does not have to be complicated or professionally produced.
We want to see you in action! The video should highlight the following:
  • Kicking butt in the kitchen (even your own kitchen).
  • Again, think Gordon Ramsay (“Kitchen Nightmares”) meets Billy the Exterminator (with a true Southern accent).
  • Show us your BIG personality, your LOUD personality. Perhaps even obnoxious.
  • You're not afraid to swing the bat and tell it like it is.
  • Let's hear some professional lingo with regards to restaurant terminology-show us you know your stuff.
  • "What the HELL is going on in here" and/or "what were you THINKING" are some good lines to include.
Please email your video via yousendit.com to , email links or upload a link to YouTube. If you prefer to mail your video as a DVD please get in touch for our mailing address.
Feel free to learn more about us at: lusidmedia.com.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Seems like we've heard this song before. Who in their right mind would want to watch a show like that anyway?

Agreed. Thats also not a true representation of what goes on. I honestly dont think that Ramsey has all of his original teeth, because I refuse to believe that he never came across someone that wouldn't tolerate being spoken to like that. I visualize someone standing over Ramsey saying, "did you want to try that again" as he's picking up and counting his teeth off the ground. What an abrasive and caustic personality.

            Hey Guys:

Just want to clarify something. I myself worked 14 years in the restaurant industry, and I have seen what goes on in every aspect of this business, having been a coat check lady to manager.  When I said think "Gordon Ramsay", I didn't mean that you have to insult people as atrociously as he does, even though I have seen quite a bit of this in my experience.  Rather, I am simply trying to paint the picture as best as I can as to what we are seeking.  Maybe think:"Kitchen/Restaurant Boot Camp."  There are companies out there that do this type of boot camp, but the people who lead these programs are typically white collar, corporate individuals who don't really have the TRUE gritty and RAW personality we are looking for. Does that make better sense?  Moreover, please know that this is a legitimate opportunity to be part of a TV show on a major cable TV network. Feel free to read up about us at lusidmedia.com or watch our show on the Cooking Channel: "United Tastes of America."

Our intentions are not to offend anyone on these boards or our audience, but rather to find an individual who matches this profile, really knows his stuff and wants to be on TV, to give tough love to struggling restaurants and help them improve.  Big personalities, yes even loud ones, work great on TV.  Sometimes loudness, strong conviction and strength of character can be misinterpreted for being offensive.  That's inevitable.

If you or anyone you know is interested in this opportunity feel free to email me at casting@lusidmedia.com for more details.

            Thanks so much!
