"Mama Loves Cornbread" Super cornbread recipe for the Super Bowl

Ben, that's what I thought. The small amount of sugar, in that recipe, would not make it sweet. Glad things turned out well! :~)

And, your right about the cast iron skillet. I have one that is only used for cornbread.

   All the title of this thread, "Mama Loves Cornbread" did was to send Perry Como back out to play on the involuntary jukebox in my head. Naturally, he's singing "Papa Loves Mambo."
   Well, in that song, Mama did love Pop so, so it might well carry over that both of them loved cornbread!

Sweet cornbread is growing on me.  I still prefer a good baked in an iron skillet, crusty on the outside, moist and tender not sweet made from white corn meal, but I've had some good sweet stuff lately. I do prefer it with lots of stuff in it,  like chile peppers and chedder. But hot out of the oven, sweet corn bread is not bad, and goes well with a bowl of chili. I may try this one.
