I would also rate Wiener's Circle and Hot Doug's as two of my favorite Chicago hot dog stands. Both serve excellent natural casing, char broiled Vienna Beef hot dogs. Wiener's Circle serves the best "food with a tude" in the city. A snappy natural casing hot dog along with a good dose of attitude. Profanity at the highest level is king during late night service. Hot Doug's offers a complete selection of Vienna Beef products and the finest gourmet game sausages I've ever eaten. Doug's duck fat fries are a treasure to behold. I've never been to Mustard's Last Stand in Evanston and never heard of Morrie O'Mally's until last week. The day of the two dollar Chicago style hot dog is nearly extinct due to the rising cost of bread products and fuel surcharges from foodservice distributors.

CSD are you sure that you don't mean Wiener Circle? I don't believe that Gold Coast Dogs is open past 8:00 p.m..

I had a bad experience last spring at Mustard's Last Stand...threw out most of it. I'm with you on Hot Doug's and Gene & Jude's...Chicago institutions.

              PROFANITY ALERT !

This Youtube video is a segment on "This American Life" showing the crazyness that is the "Weiners Circle" in Chicago. The video is extremely interesting and my purpose in posting is to inform, not to offend.

The video does contain a large amount of PROFANITY !

I was there for lunch today. Had pastrami on rye but bought some dogs to take home for the grill.

Boston Blackies on E. Grand Ave. has a half-pound Vienna hot dog that's amazing. Blackies a sit-down place, not a stand, and it's very crowded at prime lunch and dinner times.

Bill Geist proudly displays "Big Wally" in front of ABT Electronics during "Behind-the-Cart" training at the November Hot Dog University class. You can purchase this half pound, natural casing beauty at the Vienna Beef Store & Factory Cafe/Deli.
