Marlborough, Ma.

I just had a great breakfast at Jake's in Marlborough(Thanks Again roossy90) and was heading out to work when I came across this sign.

What a combo! Even though I wasn't hungry I had to have at least one dog. The hot dog stand is called Devo's Dogs. It is run by Chris Devoe and his father Ron. Here is a side shot of the Dog cart looking over the potted plants.

No doubt about it, these are real hot dog people. I forgot the name of the dog they use but it is delicious. Everything is home made. The chile, onion rings, fries, etc.

I ordered "The Texan". Chili, onions, cheese, jalepenos and bacon. Papajoe would love to have this one in Texas.

I grabbed extra napkins and dug in. This was a seriously good meal. Chris and Ron are to be commended. The care and concern that they put into their entire operation can be tasted in the food.

Here is a menu shot.

I also got the take out menu and hung it in our work truck. I can't wait to get back to Marlborough and show up at Devo's hungry. I think I'll start with a burger, then a dog, then some home made ice cream, then a round of mini golf and maybe an azalea to go.[/img]

First let me say Joe that the garden center/hot dog stand combo is a winner in my book. The wife loves to shop for flowers and plants and I could work my way through most of that menu in no time while waiting for her. Alas, I'm not living up there anymore so that dream won't happen unless a decent dog vendor moves into my local Lowes.

The menu (and dog) look great except for one thing. I can eat almost anything or nothing on a good hot dog but I've never understood the baked beans thing. I like good baked beans and I enjoy a good bowl of great baked beans and franks from time to time...but the roll thing pretty much throws the beans and franks thing off kilter. I don't know why...it just doesn't work for me.

But I digress...nice report!

OH MY.. I had totally forgot about Trombetta's!!!.
We used to get ice cream there. I had a colada ice cream that was out of this world!
See Joe?..Little secrets abound!..
Never had a dog there. (My old BF hated weenies)...
Glad to see you did Jakes.
Papa surely would love that dog!
I see the authentic New England style roll, and might be the dog's be Maple Leafs?--Just guessing here.

RibRater, What happened to Larry

I never had beans on a dog. Being that the beans are home made I'll try it next time I'm in the area.

roossy90, I know it's not Maple Leaf or Pearls. And I asked what he using because I wanted to include it in the report.

Also I should have included a photo of the seating area. It's almost tropical. Next time.

BINGO!!!

And I was going to tell you it started with a K.

IMHO, It's one of the best tasting dogs I ever had. I squeezed out a piece without any topping and thought it was excellent.

I gotta tell you, I really like marlborough. And I didn't even hit the Bars yet.

Great looking dog at any price, but $2.25 makes it a bargain in my book. I'm thinking I'd like to give that Taco Dog a try, it sounds pretty good.

Hey Lee, I just got through meeting with the zoning department and my buns were toasted enough.

Kidding, Chris did offered to toast the bun. Plain was my choice.

I really dont think they have a good seafood restaurant there. It really isnt that big of a town anyway.
They had an affilate of a seafood restaurant there, that was just opening when I left, and it looked "yuppity" from the looks of it.
LOL.....Right behind Chins Garden... (which I love their pork soup)

I am a fan of Kennedys.

OH JOE>> I totally forgot about Kennedys.. Gotta try their Mac N Cheese, and their special potatoes! They have a market with items to heat n eat.

I dont eat much seafood, so its not like I care to look for a seafood place to eat.

Next time you go back, try Bumpys on Main street, for breakfast and see if they have those specialty eggs benedicts breakfasts still.

roossy90, You're right, not a big seafood town. Too far inland I guess. I saw the sign for the seafood place by Chin's. Your typical 2 lobsters for $19.99. Was it Coral seafood?

On my next trip I will set up a ride with the hotel courtesy van and do my own pub crawl. Main Street looks like a fun place, just not on Sunday Nights. I will put Kennedy's on my list. Could not find Sully's, even with navigation.

BTW, is there a bar in Marlborough you don't know about? When I go in these places should I say tara sent me?

Sullys is hard to find, if you are not a local.
It is on an alley just the first block south of main street.

But...Marlboro is NOT a big place.
You can use my name but then you might have to reference my old BF, and you can email me to get his name..
It would be like..Hey.. tara...Blah blah blahs old GF told me to stop in here.
And they would say..... COOL, as long as blah blah blah isnt with her!" />They would say. we love her-I hope, but keep so and so out of here.
I think I hate to say, that many peeps there will know who you are talking about if you mention my name. But NOT a reflection upon me.

Its a small town, and when you date a local drunk A hole, they sure do remember that pretty stupid woman." />...As so many of them told me.
I wised up. Thats why I left there after almost 2 years.
Email me and I will give you facts and directions....
Way too much 411 here, but hey..... Thats the enigma that I am!" />

Ohhhh, My navi brought me to the end of Florence St.(dead end). Sully's probably will be easier to find on foot. I'll make it part of my Main Street Pub Crawl.

Hey, sorry to bring up that other stuff. Do you want me to kick his A** while I'm up there.

Sullys is directly across the street from the Walgreens, back behind the parking garage in the alley way. If that makes sense.
Across the street from the post office.
No problem on the other stuff. Thats ancient history.
Been about 5 years since I was there, so I may be a faded name.

I visited Devo's Dogs this week. What a great place. The owner Chris really cares about the quality of the food he puts out.

I went with the Texan again, and paired it with a chili and onion dog.

Sloppy and delicious. The rolls were lightly buttered and grilled.

I brought a sales rep with me for this dining experience. He went with the taco dog and a chili cheeseburger. He even went with the homemade habanaro sauce. Made with peppers grown on site. I went to get more napkins and he devoured the dog before I could get a pic. But here is the 3/4 pound chili cheeseburger. fresh hand formed patty, cooked the way you want it.

Now here is the best part, 3 special dogs, 1 chili cheeseburger, 1 bag of chips and 2 drinks....$12.50.

IMHO, if you live within 25 miles of this place, you should be eating here at least twice a week. I will be working in the area on a regular basis starting next month. I plan on trying everything on the menu[/img][/img]

WOW. What that burger needs is a schmear of coleslaw. Perfection. I have to say joe, if I had a dog place/garden stand nearby, I would spend some time there.

Trombetta's has the perfect combo -  food and plants.  We are there nearly every weekend.  Either I go to get an excellent ice cream cone and end up buying plants.  Or I go to get some flowers and stop to get ice cream.  Devo dogs have really caught on - lines were forming during summer days.

PostcardPam, Welcome to Roadfood.

It's good to hear that Devo's is developing a following.  Chris has such a passion for the quality of food he serves.

He is open all winter also.  You can go get your Christmas Tree and have a Taco Dog to warm you up.

Sorry, I was  trying to figure out if that percent sign, is positioned backwards. It is! LOL

Very nice report, Mr. Marlboro (UGH  sloppy & delicious) Man!
