Across the street
I walked!
With all this talk about chicken wings I had to take a trip. Hoagies and Wings has been open for a year or so across the street from my store and believe it or not, I never made that trek to sample some.
My full intention was to have wings and wings only. The name of the place never really sunk in. *DUH* When I saw the menu I thought… why not?
Maybe it was the pictures that swayed my good judgment.
I decided to try both offerings and ordered the hoagie combo of sandwich and 4 wings for $11.99.
Too expensive! The hoagie was on a very fresh roll with fresh lettuce, a schmear of mayo and a good amount of very salty meat. I should have stuck with the wings. The wings were a little small but the sauce (hot) was very good. They really weren’t hot but they were perfect for lunch. I had a choice of Ranch or Blue Cheese sauce and I chose the Blue Cheese. So… where are my celery sticks? They didn’t serve them with this combo. Demerits!
I had them wrap up half of the sandwich and walked out while pretending to eat the other half. I’d go back for more wings, but it’s a little too expensive for lunch.
I wasn’t satisfied with my lunch and needed more! Got in the car and drove a little way down the Ventura Bl to a semi-new yogurt place… Tutti Fruiti
I was amazed when I walked in! I was immediately greeted by a very nice woman holding little sample cups. She told me to sample as many of the flavors as I wanted. This is a serve yourself place!
I could have made a meal out of the samples!
Wonderful flavors! I was really excited because I was wondering if they really had a Tutti Fruiti flavor. YES! Along with their Pinkberry copy and the Tutti Fruiti, some of the flavors that they had were Taro, Pomegranate, coconut, cheesecake and mango. Those were the flavors I sampled and those were the flavors that filled my cup. Good thing I didn’t sample others.
Toppings were also serve yourself and I did!
They had both fresh fruit and dry toppings. I chose Mochis, diced mango and for a little texture Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs. Everything is 35¢ an ounce and my cup came to $5.41.
That was a bargain and I will be back. Repeatedly! The yogurt was light and very refreshing. The flavors were bright and delicious!
I hope they do very well as they moved in to a yogurt shop that was good but didn’t make it.
Didn’t feel like cooking after work so I stopped at the much debated Tito’s Tacos. I love that place!
The weather was nice so I stood outside in line.
My order was 2 tacos, NO Cheese, 1 tostada with cheese, 4 bean and cheese burritos and a medium guacamole to go. $17 and change.
One of the burritos was for the car and the two tacos were for home. We freeze the extra burritos to have at a later time.
The guacamole is all mine! No one else makes guacamole like Tito’s and we really don’t even know if it’s made with avocado but I love it.
The tacos are typical California crisp, greasy tacos. I think that cheese ruins the flavor. The meat has always been mystery meat but it’s delicious. (There have been rumors)
I’ve been eating at Tito’s since I was a kid riding there on my bike. I can now get a senior citizens discount at some restaurants. Tito’s is a love it or don’t get it place. I will always love it!
So, there is my day trip or a day in my life. I’m still jealous of all you real trippers!
