When I lived in Akron, Ohio, there was a marvelous deli named Lou and Hy's. It served Matzoh Ball soup with rice . I believe it was called Schissel. I have yet to find this elsewhere. Does anyone know of another place that might serve this soup?

If you had been hanging around the North Shore of Boston somewhere in 1997 you could've had GREAT Matzoh Ball soup. Well, if you came in for lunch. My sous-chef was Jewish and he decided it was going to be the soup of the day. Lovely little Matzoh balls, delicious chicken broth, baby bow tie pasta. Perfection. Until a few hours later. Those lovely little Matzoh balls now resembled soft balls. We couldn't get them into a "cup", had to be served in a "bowl". They swelled and swelled and ate all of the chicken broth and the baby bow tie pasta was smoosh.

My Bubbie called the pot or bowl a Schissel.
