Mayonaise doesn't belog on Burgers!

What is the point of Mayo on Burgers? No other meat has Mayo on it, that I can think of, Why Burgers? I dislike Mayo, however I will eat Tuna Salad etc. Who and why started this awful albeit old habit. Anyone else dislike Mayo on their Burgers?

I can take or leave it. I don't hate it enough to ask for it left off when I'm out, but I pretty much never add it when I make burgers at  home. Unless it's an olive burger. Olive burgers require mayonnaise.

I always want mayonnaise on my burgers. I want mustard, too. And sometimes relish. Catsup? Never!

Sorry CTF, but I must disagree.  My favorite cheeseburger is the one I get at Dilly's Corner in New Hope PA.  And it does have mayo!

Mayo goes with a BLT. It follows that mayo goes on a burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato.

No mayo for me, either.  Can't stand the stuff.    I can not count the number of times I have sent back burgers or sandwiches with mayo.  It usually happens for one of the following two reasons:

    1. They didn't pay attention to my request for "no mayo"  ....   Or
    2.  The menu didn't list that the burger/sandwich as having mayo, so I order it as is, and get surprised when it arrives with mayo.
    Both reasons are restaurant error.

I like Mayo on burgers. I also like it on turkey, chicken, meatloaf and fish sandwiches. So there's that.

Lots of mayo on the top bun and lots of mayo on the bottom bun!  No ketchup or mustard.  Sorry, Tom, I'm a mayo kind of girl when it comes to burgers!

Oh Chewy!!!!!!!!!  Until now you were my hero and I would (and did) defend you to the end!  But a little Mayo on burgers..or roast beef sandwich.. is sublime!  And a turkey sandwich w/o mayo......what would my WASP-y ancestors think???????

I'm not a big Ketchup/Mustard/Relish fan, so I know I am biased and perhaps a bit warped in the eyes of many ( a hot dog with hoisin and mayo to me is heaven).  However, other than maybe a garlic/mayo concoction for your glorious fries, I would never expect to see it anywhere near any of your BBQ goodies.

    Oh..and I'll eat the burger w/o mayo too.  good.but.........

I agree. Catsup should be banned. But it would be OK if used on corned beef hash.

Fine, I guess, on canned hash, but no  way on great homemade hash!  The only thing that you would put on great homemade hash is a poached egg!

Oh, I like catsup on  great homemade corned beef hash, too. And I would never put a poached egg on hash, canned or homemade. I always put at least two poached eggs on my hash.

I have had delicious burgers prepared with and without Mayonnaise, all depends on how they are prepared as a whole. But some of my absolute favorite ones were all made with freshly made Aioli. ( house made mayonnaise ) The ones that come to mind were made with a Basil Pesto Aioli, another with a Roasted Garlic Aioli, and another with a Cilantro Jalapeno Pesto Aioli, and last but not least a burger with Tapenade Aioli.

    Either:
    (1) Lettuce, tomato and mayo, or
    (2)  Ketchup, mustard and relish/pickle.
But not both!  Of course you can add onion and/or bacon to either.
When it comes to BPT's I think of (1) as Indiana and (2) as Iowa (I'm sure there are exceptions).
