McDonald's New Jalapeno Burger

Once when in Hawaii I noticed dipping sauces for McDonald's McNuggets that I'd never seen before.  I was in Hawaii so I thought I'd just try them when I got home.

Wrong!  These sauces were being test marketed in Hawaii.

So this evening I tried something I noticed on their menu here in North Texas.  They might be offered elsewhere and everywhere but I won't let my Hawaiian experience repeat itself.

I ordered their $2 Double Jalapeno Burger.

I liked it.  It was a little bit dry and I really don't want 2 meat patties, but the taste was very good.  The patties were topped with a white cheese, pickled jalapenos and crispy, fried, batter coated jalapenos.

I'd be happy to order the Jalapeno Burger again.

How was the heat level, Mar?

I can't put my finger on the exact location but I want to say that somewhere in Indiana or Ohio this past week I saw a McDonald's marquee advertising the jalapeno burger.

It's hard to draw any real conclusions from what you find at McDonalds in Hawaii: when they opened the franchises there, they gave the franchisee substantial latitude in product development and service.

You also find haupia pies, plate lunches, spam, and Portuguese sausage at McD's Hawaii.  None of which are expected to grace the mainland any time soon.

But I could see the Jalapeno burger getting wider distribution.  Hasn't hit Northern New England yet...

I tried the Jalapeno burger here in central MA a couple of times, I agree very tasty for a 2 dollar burger from McD's.

Brad, the heat level was minimal.  However, it depends on the individual peppers.  I've had jalapenos I couldn't tolerate but these were just perfect.

I'm rather surprised by the high level of interest and curiosity with McDonald's menu here at Roadfood.com. (Not that I'm a Roadfood snob or anything like that...)

I'm sure it pales in comparison to an authentic Italian jalapeno cheeseburger, found only in New Jersey.

I've never had a problem with McDonald's.  The interest is in new menu items.

If more restaurants offered drive-thru I'd be happy.  Sometimes in 105 degree weather I just don't want to get out of the car... or cook.

Drive thus are a major PITA!  Have you ever tried going thru the drive thru at any given time of the day at In/Out burger?  Good luck with that!  Same goes for the other drive thrus......people sit there and dig thru their purses etc trying to find the money to pay when all they have to do is have the money ready by the time they get to where their order is!
Then there are the ones who have umpteen kids in the car and instead of pulling forward to check the order they have to sit and fiddle fart checking each and every thing!

OH, NOW! Please don't start infamous 'Ketchup' fracas thing up again. If you do, I'll have to head up to you all and wring a few necks or let you all settle it in a mud pit or something.
By the way, sure hope iluvcfood feels better, now then they've said how they feel about driveins. Goodness gracious, better go back to going inside...

This thread piqued my curiosity. I just came back from McDonald's and finished a jalapeno double burger. First, to ease anyone's anxiety, there was no catsup. It was pretty good. And it had a kick to it. I'd get one again.

I have given up on both Jack in the Box (burgers and buns both too dry) and McDonalds.  I'm totally in to Wendys burgers now!  Fresh meat and the Chicken and the Fish sandwiches are also great.
Edited to add:  Ketchup has absolutely NO business being on a Burger or anything else for that matter!

Don't tell my daughter in law that!   She even loves ketchup on her hot dogs..........on her burgers, on her meatloaf, on her french fries and on her cottage cheese!

Jalapeno burgers also here in NW Florida, but green peppers are as far as I go up the fire scale!
And our local McD's now have a 60 second drive thru guarantee only on Mondays-Fridays from 12-1 PM: "or your next sandwich is on us"

Not a big Mickie D's fan but this burger is definitely something special as far as a $2 burger goes. Crispy Jalapenos were a nice contrast to the pickled Jalapenos, creamy cheese and sauce cut through the heat. Probably the only thing I've ever like from there.

Tried another Jalapeno Burger at the McDonald's in Harrah's at Laughlin, Nevada a couple of days ago.
Better than the first one.  A definite winner.

You can ask for Big Mac sauce on anything.. for like 40 cents more. I usually get a Jalapeno Burger or Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger with Big Mac Sauce.

I haven't patronized McDonald's since I learned they discontinued the hot mustard sauce for the McNuggets. Haven't been able to bring myself to go back for anything, but I am curious about this burger.
