McDonalds and local cuisine

I know the McD's in Hawaii have taro pies, portuguese sausage and/or SPAM breakfast plates, and I seem to recall breakfast bagels in a Manhatten one years ago. Are there any special items in your local McDonald's that aren't found in other areas? I've also had pizza and hot dogs at a Miami one which I thought was unusual, but I wouldn't consider that regional.

Several years ago, I remember seeing a sign/banner on some McDonald's locations in Maine, announcing that they were serving Lobster Rolls. Yes, I know... Also, when I was in Nova Scotia, I recall stopping at a McDonald's (no place else within sight!), and having some Cream of Broccoli soup that was actually pretty good. Is Cream of Broccoli soup part of the Nova Scotian cuisine?

You should see the items on a Mickie D's Japanese menu.

I recall that in the UK, McDonald's had some sort of curried veggie patty. In France they had beer on the menu. They currently market the breakfast bagels up here(Manitoba) as well as a breakfast wrap. In past, we were a test market for the Pizza which stuck around for a number of years but no longer exists.

The lobster rolls seemed to be all over New England in past summers, but I haven't seen them this year. Has anyone? Green chile cheeseburgers? I'll admit I've seen some McD's burgers that where a little green, but never anything like a chile. At any McD's I've ever been to you practically have to beg to get a paper sniff of black pepper.

I'm between two TV markets - Dothan & Panama City... and we get different ads on the local stations as to what McDonald's is offering - for instance, the Dothan McD's are running ads for the "Southern Chicken Sandwich" & the "Southern Chicken Biscuit", while Panama City rolls out the "Snack Wrap". Of course, we're sided with Panama City, so whatever they get, we get. [|)]

Xannie, have you seen the commercial for the Hardees Jalapeno Thickburger where the fireman, when he finishes his soda, starts slurping up the sodas of his buddies around the table because the burger is so hot!

Last August I went to a McDonald's in La Crosse, Wisconsin, that sold like six ingredients for the McFlurry! What's up with that? The ingredient I selected was Take Five, the Hershey product with caramel and pretzels. I can't remember any of the others. Here in Ohio it's basically either Oreo cookies or M&M's.

When the McLobster roll first came out, it was suprisingly good. A fair amount of lobster. In Italy, they served a "McAladdin" thing which was a burger wrap with some curry-like mayo. Don't bother. I Qatar, they have date pies. Haven't tried one, but I've found I kinda like dates (if they aren't blind).

During 34 years in Miami, Florida, I have never seen hot dogs or pizza offered in a McDonald's. They must have came and went pretty quickly.

Haven't seen their lobster rolls in several years - probably dropped due to the high price of lobster. They were actually quite good, although $5 didn't allow for much of a portion. I believe it was last summer that I saw shelled lobster meat selling for $49/lb (fish market at a fishing port). I believe it's dropped quite a bit since then, but it's probably still hard to sell even a 2 ounce lobster portion for $5.

About once or twice a year Johnsonville brats are available at some Wisconsin (and maybe northern Illinois?) locations. The ads show the brat dressed almost the same as a burger: mustard, ketchup, and onion. Can't remember if it comes with pickles... I've never had one. Brad

Years ago, we stopped at a McD's in Wisconsin (I think... it was near a ski slope) that sold individual pizzas. Haven't seen them anywhere else. Recently, they seem to be pushing the "new" Southern-style chicken biscuit and sandwich, but I think that's nationwide, not just here in the South.

McDonalds tested a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich in Indiana a while back. I never had it but understand from comments it was actually a pork fritter sandwich.
