I think your post changed the date to today's date.

They need to offer the lobster rolls and fried clam plates on the west coast where we can't get them.

I agree, Mar. One thing I have found at Mcdonalds is the steak ,egg and cheese bagel. Bob is ultra picky about steak, but this little ribeye on that sandwich is good.Great flavor.God forgive me.

I haven't set foot in a MacDonalds since my kids became old enough to start going there themselves about 10-12 years ago.

But I do plan to eat at this one on my annual June trip to nearby Belmont Race Track.

In the '80's they thought the Mc DLT was "upscale"...we all know where that went for them.. I doubt people who really enjoy food want to have a "steak" at McDonalds...just my opinion.  I'm afraid of where the meat comes from for that, is it one of those "meat glue" steaks?  Anyone know what i'm talking about??

I-44, actually.  The city in mind is Vinita, not far from the Missouri state line.  I ate there once, although it was only for a soda.  (However, I did get to eat the location in Clinton, in western Oklahoma on I-40 for lunch a few years later.  There's a Route 66 display in the dining area!)

Oh, so that's how it's spelled. I hadn't seen it in writing.

    I thought it was "McCrap".

I figured I'd give this thread a bump, since I went to the (literal) McMansion in New Hyde Park Long Island yesterday as part of my annual trip to Belmont Race Track.

It is indeed a beautiful space. The outside was preserved intact but the inside was completely gutted and redone in a modern, airy style, in a very non-McDonalds classy way.

The food...eh. It's still McDonald's. The fries were tasty as usual, the burger (quarter pounder w/cheese) fairly tasteless, and the cheese was barely melted.

Since I hadn't been in a McDonals in years, and didn't want to try to bother figuring out the bewildering menu options (what comes with what, which meal has this but not that, which combo had what items, etc etc), I asked the kid at the counter what was the best deal for a quarter pounder with cheese, large fries, and a soda. He was very on the ball and steered me to some sort of combo of those items (with a huge soda, and this going on only about 3 miles away from Bloomberg's jurisdiction) that only came to about $7.

I was there at about 12:30 on weekday and it was quite busy, but with plenty of empty tables, I had a nice window seat in the gazebo section, not bad for a $7 meal. The oddest thing was that there was a huge line of cars at the drive thru, enough to cause a backup getting into the parking lot. So here are all these people who can't be bothered to get out of thier cars, even to eat at what is one of the nicest McDonald's in the US. Boy, did I know I was on Long Island. The irony was, of course, that my eat-in meal was ready in about a minute and I got to eat it in pleasant relaxed surroundings, while I'm sure those people were waiting on line in their cars for at least 30 minutes.

Then I went to the track to meet up with my old work buddies, and lost only about $10, which for me was a good day.

We have a new Winners OTW right down the block. It's a fun little place...for playin' the ponies. Nothing like NYC OTB.
