Yesterday at the Ft. Stanton National Cemetery here in southern New Mexico, we held a well attended memorial service. This cemetery, 108 years old, sits on a knoll amongst our mountains. A befittingly peaceful place for our buried heroes. As a member of the American Legion, it was my honor and privalege to fire one of our M1 rifles in the 21 gun salute.

Ugh! I missed the Motorcycle parade in town! :0(
But, it's still pretty cool to see the thousands and thousands and thousands of hogs all in one place. Especially to honor our Vets.

The bikes or the vets? I have been honored to be buried in Arlington but have declined this honor. I am not worthy to share the ground w/ such heros. I want my ashes dumped on my pasture. Ashes to ashes and etc.

I'm about 90 miles from DC and this area is crawling with bikers. All the motels and hotels are full with them. Pretty nice bunch for the most part.
