I can think of nothing that adds more indirect support to those who participate in Memorial Day Services, anywhere, Than the music in the program, be it the band or orchestra playing a March, a choir rendition, or even the "Amazing Grace" from a single Piper. I hope when it is all over that you are able to enjoy the 'Rest of the Just'. thank you Al. I shouldn't complain about it either. It's actually a gratifying honor to be a participant in such an important part of our nation's pride.

quote:Originally posted by CCJPO Usually do a big cookout for family, friends, employees, however this year, my two sons, my beautiful bride, and more importantly one of our young friends, who is home on leave, before he returns to Iraq for his 4TH TOUR, have convinced me to march in a Memorial Day parade. So I will parade in Virginia City, Nevada City, then it will be onto the VA Hospital in Reno to visit with our young and old heros. I have always dealt with my 2 tours of SEA, courtesy of Uncle Sam, with the philosophy of, just keepin on, keepin on. So now I have these youngins' saying, "POPS, you have to let it out in order to let it go", young whipper snappers, the pricks, I quess out of the mouths of babes. I dug out my old uniforms, they still fit, I was going to wear my dress, but my fatigues are more my style. Haven't unpacked these for almost 40 years, except for my boonie, which I wear a lot, as it is the most comfortable hat I own. The amazing thing is that this **** still fits. So we are going to do that, they are going to walk with me. The we we will stop at the Bucket of Blood Saloon for a couple of tomato beers, then go down the hill to Reno to the V A hospital. I know they want me to share stories, but that I won't do, not with them, don't do it at the VFW, won't do it with my family. Maybe at the VA, if I can hold it togeather. PEACE - OUT. My Dress Whites still fit and my jungle what evers also fit (I was in hack so much I did just a bit of forward observer duty, thank you God for giving me the eyes to be an Aviator.) Down in the dirt...not w/ an m16...M14 maybe.

You're in my thoughts & prayers today. Speaking from the experience of losing my father recently, I try & remember all the good times & celebrate the fact he's in a better place with no pain. But just when you think you've got a situation under control...you hear a song, see an awesome sunset, or someone says something .... And it's Kleenex time again.

Paul, you are in my thoughts today. Ceremonies are important in life. I'm glad you can say a formal good-bye to your wife in a way she wanted. Bless you for doing so,

Paul, I hope it was a celebration of Judi's life. She was like a sailboat......sailing off beyond the horizon and the people left on shore couldn't see that sailboat any more. But there were people on the other side of the horizon welcoming that boat. And they rejoiced!
