Mexican Food Sat, 04/19/08 6:07 PM (permalink)
Bob and I decided to take the Harley out(the 105th anniv.edition roadglide)as it was 61 degrees and sunny-too nice of a day to sit at home.We were headed to our favorite breakfast place, even though it was 4 in the afternoon. As we approached the Butler,Wi.branch of George Webbs,Bob noticed all signs were down and the place was closed.Oh,my,what to do!!We decided to turn the corner and noticed a place called Arriba, which served Mexican food.(Quite different from what we were craving)Deciding we ought to try something different,we pulled over.Pretty typical small Mexican restaurant, but clean, very friendly staff, and red sauce, pico de gallo and green sauce on the table-freshly fried tortilla chips arrive when you are seated. All are made in house-fantastic!!!The red sauce was hot-but not overpowering eaten on the tortilla chip-pico de gallo was as fresh as if out of the garden...green sauce was mild but had a wonderful green chile taste.I, of course, ordered a small side of guacamole($1.25)perfect for one.I watched the chefs mash a fresh batch, with a bit of onion, tomato, and a beautifully ripe avocado.(I ordered a large side to go-$3.25)Bob and I each had the 3 combo plate.($8.75)A taco, enchilda and tostada, along with rice, beans, lettuce and tomato.Talk about generous. We chose the ground beef, but steak, pork, chicken, chorizo, and a vegetarian choice were offered($3.00 extra for shrimp)All were VERY generous, meat, included.Bob is an enchilada fan, but he was amazed at the tostada.Mounds of meat, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, drizzled with sour cream. The soft shell taco we received(hard shell is also offered)was one of the freshest I have tasted.Again, all are made on site. Our bill was $21.00,including a small and large guacamole, and two entrees, two sodas. We would, and will bring any and all to this lovely restaurant.Sorry no pics, but this was a true roadfood experience-just happened upon it!!!

Good Mexican food, while cruising on a Road Glide? That's about as good as it gets.
