In Palm Desert, a chain, absolutely the WORST pastrami I've ever had, my wife had Fried Chicken, inedible. The place is spotless, service was good, but oh Lord, boiled tasteless tough pastrami...anyone ever been to one...your thoughts?

My favorite Mini-Chain in SoCal is FARMER BOYS , about 50 outlet's I think.  One of their Burgers has and equal portion of Pastrami on top of the cheese-covered Burger. It makes for an excellent Burger !!

The original store for the chain was in or near Moreno Valley, about 40 miles from Palm Desert.

Holy Mackerel! Where can I get a deal like that? My last hot pastrami sandwich and ice tea at Katzinger's in Columbus cost that.

                Good Lord!
Maybe I should get out of Texas more often.
When I do, I'll make sure to fill up my wallet.
It's just that the border is so far away.

(A little known fact is that Paris - Berlin is 200 fewer miles than it is from Texarkana - El Paso).

They don't make their own, or do you buy theirs?

resteamed like as in Corned beef, or , how you serve your corned beef now, sliced and heated. Pastrami is heated on the grill, gets the juices going...........

Tom, this pastrami has a mild smoked flavor to it, real smoke, not smoke flavoring. Lots of black pepper, mustard and coriander seed. Check with RC Provisions to see if they distribute back east.
My cost is $5.59lb, two pieces per package, 8-10lb average.
I have always sliced thin (11/2 on the slicer) then on the grill.
From their website, says to steam. I would do this only if hand slicing.
