Just keep an eye on Mike, he tends to get separated from Ava and wanders off on his own.

    That's OK
Sandra is director of adoption services at her organization. If worse comes to worse, she can put Mike S up for adoption.

I brought collar and leash with me for Ava.

    To use on me :)

Sheesh, I goto a Kentucky adult beverage store for two minutes and the kid disappears. Of course I find her at an ice cream store.

Monday Ava and I are going to Plymouth Rock and Salem, we might go whale watching too. I don't know yet for sure.

Monday night we'll be in Maine, going to explore the region from there.

joe...........SE Mass and parts of RI are highly populated with Portuguese descendants who first came over on the fishing boats and stayed to establish farms  My hometown on Cape Cod was 1/3 Portuguese...........and you know I adore Linguica pizza and Sandwiches ..almost as good as fried clams!. WSJ has great intinerary planned, although a bit of travelling around. But rest assured the food should be memorable

We've had a great day so far, Dale and Sandra have been a lot of fun traveling with.

Ava discovered she doesn't care for clam bellies. Oh well, more for me.

Portuguese is very regionally appropriate.  Luso-Americans make up about 50% of the population in Fall River.  One of Fall River's nicknames is "The 10th Island".  Many of the Portuguese in that area were fishermen (or their descendants) who immigrated from the Azores off Portugal.  There are 9 Azorean islands, hence Fall River given the nickname, "The 10th Island'.    If you can't get good Bacalhau, chorico, or linguica dishes there, you ain't getting them anywhere this side of the Azores.

Looks like Mike S. and Ava will be heading to Plymouth and Salem MA today and then they're on their way up to Maine.

We had a great time this weekend

I met Mike S and Ava at Jigger's Diner in East Greenwich for breakfast on Saturday

we then had RI style bakery pizza at DePetrillo's Bakery in Warwick and then Hot Wieners at Wien-O-Rama in Cranston.

Sandra joined us afterward and we headed to South County for Seafood at Champlin's Seafood in Narragansett as well has some homemade ice cream. We then enjoyed walking around Salty Brine Beach.

Afterwards we headed to Beavertail Park Lighthouse in Jamestown .

Unfortunately Ava wasn't feeling well so Mike S and Ava didn't join us in the evening so Sandra and I went to Andrea's  a Greek restaurant near Brown University in Providence and then we headed to Waterfire.

We started out Sunday Morning at Allie's Donuts in North Kingstown prior to having breakfast at Modern Diner in Pawtucket, we then headed over to Federal Hill (little Italy) in Providence, walked around a bit and picked up some pastries to go at Scialo's Bakery . Afterwards we drove to Prospect  Terrace Park on College Hill in Providence which offers a terrific overlook of downtown Providence.

We had more seafood for Lunch at Evelyn's Drive In in Tiverton and then some more ice cream at The Daily Scoop in Bristol. We hung around Bristol afterwards for an hour or so, soaking in the sunshine along Narragansett Bay.

Our final stop was Caravela's Family Restaurant a new (to me) Portuguese Restaurant in Fall River where we joined up with Roadfooders Paulde and Joe Rogo for incredibly huge and delicious portions of old school Portuguese food. (we took most of it home)

It was great to see Mike S and Ava again as well as Joe Rogo  (who came all the way from Northeastern PA). and I'm glad a representative of  our monthly Boston Roadfooder  group, Paulde was able to join us as well.

And we just happened to be there during the biggest festival of the year, The Feast of Santo Christo.  The procession had to be a mile long.

I worked with a Portuguese crew for about two years.  I only learned how to curse in Portuguese.  Never know, it may come in handy someday

It was a pleasure meeting Mike, Ava and Paul.  Always a pleasure to see WJ and Sandra.
