McBobs has some excellent Bloody Mary's along with the usuals. Most bars in Milwaukee get pretty full by kickoff time as most have specials for the game. If a person was going to watch the game, there are many worse places to watch. Be advised though that Milwaukee will not be smoke-free until next year so that might enter into someone's plans. We are not bothered here so they must have a good smoke removal system. There are many non-smoking places now, with more on board all the time so any lists I found was sadly outdated. I would say that Juniper 61 just a few blocks away and a new sister bar and restaurant to one of my most favorite Milwaukee stops is open, is non-smoking, has wonderful food and drink and my quick phone call confirmed that the Packer-Bear game will be on.

They start serving breakfast at 8-just an fyi. I can be there at 10 but will anyone else be there?
 We were going to be there at 10:30 but I'm open to 10.  Quijote, do you have a head count? We've always eaten at the bar. I honestly don't know how big the place is, it seems like it might be a pretty good size though. Has Maureen, Jim, Quijote, the head cat wrangler,  or anyone given them a heads up that there will be some extra folks there and some of them will have small hand held cameras while others might be  lugging Betacams? If anyone can give me a firm commitment that they will arrive at a specific time with guaranteed number for their party, I'll pass that on to the McBobs staff. OK, MFL and Mrs MFL (in 2 cars) will be at McBobs at 10:15 and we both will be having that corned beef hash. After breakfast, Mrs MFL will be off and I will accompany The Contingent to Champion Chicken where I will possibly have some fried chicken and/or get an order of chicken to go  and I'll bid everyone a fond farewell. The Roadhouses should be aware that Champion Chicken also is known for frozen custard; jus sayin'.


Has anyone else noticed we haven't heard from Maureen lately or did I just miss that? Anyway, I called up Champion Chicken and alas, while they have cocktails, beer, malts, shakes, "gourmet" soft drinks and several types of lemonades, they do not have a TV for those who want to watch Green Bay toy with da Bears. MFL, Maureen did respond (#127 above) saying that she'd call McBob's and Champion to clear the cameras, etc.

I'm hoping to get to McBob's before 10:30 so will gladly do some early dining with other early birds.
 
As we get close to 11:00 and if CSD and Buddy haven't arrived, perhaps we should order a plate of corned beef hash for them. We can keep it "safe" for them. I promise.

I still feel like crapola. I think Chuck might be over the worst of it.

I just called McBob's and Champion to follow up on everything, and we're good to go. McBob's will have a table set up for us, though we can break into smaller groups if desired. I mentioned that early birds may arrive at 10:00, and they're fine with that, too. I told Champion that we'll be in around noonish, though we may be a little early or a little late, depending; Tom was very pleasant and assured me that all was set.

It looks like a great tour tomorrow, and McBob's and Champion are an excellent way to kick it off (pardon gratuitous football reference).

We will have 3 or 4.  We are aiming for 10:00 at McBob's.

Ugh...the NWS has issued a freezing rain advisory ("most of southern Wisconsin" according to the radio) from 9pm tonight through 9am tomorrow.  Dunno how it'll affects people to the east and southeast of here but enough ice could mess up my travel plans for tomorrow, especially with an 8am departure time.  We shall see...

Well, crap.  I never check the News thread- just the get-togethers thread.  Someone needs to poke me when plans are being made somewhere else.  Unfortunately, Mr. Maki and I have plans to go to the Day of the Dead exhibit at the Mexican Museum tomorrow in Pilsen and it's the last day of the exhibit, so it's now or never. 

We'll think of all of you while we're at Carnitas Don Pedro.  It will be even colder than this day- hopefully we'll be able to eat inside, though!

10:30 will be the earliest we'll be at McBob's.  I've got X1's cell phone number, so if we're running late I'll call and definitely have you guys order us a plate of corned beef hash.

According to Michael Fish on TMJ4, I wouldn't worry about the freezing rain advisory. He says more like light drizzle/light wintry mix advisory, which will end by 9 AM, if not before. Temps are around 34 degrees, so the ice melt on the roads is working fine. He said to be careful off the main roads and on sidewalks, but otherwise, there should not be any major problems.

Sounds like you and Mr. Maki will also have a great day. That's a nice museum, and you certainly won't go hungry in Pilsen.

What a great Meet & Greet today.  Good food and a lot of fun.  I don't think anyone was self-conscious about the TV camera and microphone.

Looks like you all had a very fun time.

We definitely missed you and wondered what you were up to.... I don't think it even occurred to any of us to start a thread in "Meet and Greet" that linked back to this thread, but in retrospect, we ought to have done that.

Great pictures of Brad_Olson up there. He kept swearing like a sailor throughout all of the interviews, so who knows if any of the footage will make it onto the little screen.

A great day with great people, and we definitely missed the irisarbor clan, the Abe-Maki duo, and all of the other Contingent members MIA.

Well done! Had a great time with great folks as usual. And I have some tasty leftovers. Thanks to Q and JRPfeff for the work herding cats.
