Mock Hot Dog Stand for Math Class Thu, 12/9/04 6:31 PM (permalink)
Hi, I have been looking for Whole-sale hot dogs, and ect. I haven't had any luck. I was given a math project, that I was to open my own hot dog stand, BUT I need to write about what profit I consider my business a success, how the markup of my commodities with halp me obtain my profit goals, PLUS actual prices from hot dog distributors. Any help? Please?

I sense that you have joined this site not for a true RF purpose. There are several places on the web that this idea is explained; especially to do with
"__________ ___ ___ _____" Good luck in your venture. The answer is out there...

Now Adjudicator, this person has come to precisely the right place to talk about hot dogs. The subject has been discussed a lot, what with Chicagostyledog and other discussing the setup and running of a hot dog cart.

Sailorrikku - just search the hot dog threads, I think you will find some discussion of the things you need to know. Good luck and I hope you get a good grade!

...but CSD, if he serves the cheapest product, isn't there a chance he'll PO his potential customers so much, he'll go out of business? Is the goal to sell 100% of what you cook up each day? I'd imagine you've gotten your end of day leftovers down to a minimal amount, but how do you figure in waste?

Thanks CSD. I'm not trying to ask dumb questions, they just come naturally. I really have never worked in any food establishment. Maybe that's why the hot dog stand idea sounds intriguing. I've seen plenty of people try your idea out here in SO,(not sausage nirvana), but most go belly up after a while.

Is there anything else I should know about "opening" a hot dog cart?

              Oh, thanks for the links
The link to that other thread, I have read that allready and try to get prince lists from differnt compines, But they will not give me anything.

well, everything else I've ever made money on has soured me on the romance of what ever it is. Dead stock is dead, no matter whether it's records or hotdogs. My ? was only an extension of previous experiences. Since I LIKE to eat, it seems safe to say I won't be handling anything edible anytime soon.

The key is to have a hook(a product the stands out) then location location location and a sound financial advisor! Good Luck......ps> IF YOUR GONNA SELL HOTDOGS ..Big Volume will be your key......
