I doubt that it is a joke. Moe's staff members, at least around here are as upbeat as a cheerleader at homecoming. whitneyblair, you have stumbled into a site that contains many chain haters, but if you dig around on this site, you can find some positive comments on Moe's. So... (in as upbeat and loud a voice as I can do in print...) "Welcome to Roadfood"

I wenr once, won't go again. If you're going to stretch the meat you give me with vegetable protein, then tell me so, don't have me find out when I bite into it!! Beyond that, I found the flavors rather bland. Too many really good places out there to spend my time & money in the likes of Moe's.

I agree with you whitney, I've had many an enjoyable meal there, I'm partial to the Homewrecker myself, no beans, no guacamole, extra sour cream is the way I like 'em.

I went once too and didn't care for it. Made me long for Chipotle, which is not something I would normally do at all. Also hated the cutesy names for the food (they're confusing and irrelevant), and REALLY hated the "Welcome to Moe's!" shtick the employees all yelled when we walked in the door.

I've had worse, but I won't go back unless I have to.

Moe's is ok but I'd rather eat at Waffle House. It is light years ahead of Taco Bell but then again dumpster diving is better than Taco Bell.

My wife can't stand the VERY complicated menu. You can't just ask for a bean burrito w/ cheese...A Garcia this and Lewinsky that w/o lettuce or onions and add the cheese but if you order a Mick w/ a soft shell...I'll go down the street to the taco place where the speak NO English and get what I want for lunch.

I have some friends who absolutely love this place. It seems everytime we get together, this is where they want to eat. Once or twice was okay, but I just got tired of it. I really don't see the attraction of this place.

I tried the HOMEWRECKER recently. The beans were cold, the meat was watersoaked and the Tortilla was tough as shoe-leather. For $7.00 I considered it a total waste. I will not go back. Too many other places to try rather than waste the money here. These guys are 'fluff and noise', not 'food and flavor'!

Al.. there are so many great mexican places where you would be the only "white" guy there.. I go to La Tapitia right near the Downs and they make great soft tacos for a buck... their special is a seafood soup for like 7 bucks and it's filled to the rim of the bowl with shrimp, crab and other sea things... they also make their own rolls for their torta sandwiches and pan dulce.. their sweet breads.. it's worth the ten or less bucks you shell out for a great meal.

    Randi,
Thanks for the heads up on the Mexican scene in Louisville. On our side of the River the same thing has been happening over the past couple of years!! The only problem is sorting out the good ones from the junk or Yuppie houses! We try them and list the good ones.!

My brother-in law loves Moes north of Atlanta in Lilburn and we will accompany him on ocasional visits. The food was ordinary, a cut up from Taco Bell. The names drive me crazy and the kids never get it. They opened one in Chicago's west suburbs, minutes from my house. It is co-located with Noodles and Company which was always full. Moe's lasted under 6 months although I'm not sure if there are other Chicagoland locations. Cosi took its place...one chain after another.

Raving Brands, headquartered here in metro Atlanta, operates Moe's, as well as several other chains - Shane's BBQ, Flying Biscuit, Mama Fu's, and more. I have felt that they were all decent places for a quick predictable meal. I, too, hate the cutesy names. There is better food available, but there certainly is worse also. The taquerias in the Atlanta area have burritos which are as good or better than Moe's and they are generally a little less expensive.

Moe's is decent but when you stack it up against places like Chipotle, Qdoba and Baja Fresh, its the bottom of the barrell.

agree; the bottom of the barrel..

one opened up recently in my area by Atlantic City...
    Mays Landing...built from scratch

it's very pretty decor and comfy booths...I give them an A for ambiance..

the food in their assembly line looks like shredded up dog meat .
Does not look very appealing to me...

prices are more than they deserve to be!

Moe's is a specific kind of tex-mex craving. Their tomatillo sauce is great, I like that you can order extra cilantro, I like that they offer tofu (I am not a vegetarian, I don't have to worry about some pieces of beef slipping in...though I am firmly of the opinion that a menu that advertises an item as "vegetarian" should ensure that their "vegetarian" items never make contact with the non vegetarian items). That being said: Their guacamole is slimy and the food quality varies way too much from store to store. I like the Chipotle stores in my area, but was appalled to the extent of sending and agry email to headquarters about the overall crappiness at one of the Las Vegas locations (to be fair, they were very quick to respond).
Anyhow, the biggest problem with chain restuarants is that the food quality tends to rely on the work ethic of the underpaid teenagers behind the counter.

I walked into one...saw it was cafeteria style...cringed...read the menu with the goofy names....left.

I don't eat food with goofy names, except maybe a 'big ass pork platter'.

My guess is that he is young, well meaning, naive, and no longer an employee of the Shreveport Moe's.

Tex - I agree, but Moe's is the only chain that regularly sends me 2 for 1 coupons. That moves them up the list for me.

I am not cheap, I am frugal.
