If any on is ever in the Houston Texas area and craving good Gulfcoast seafood try tbe Monument Inn. It is off Hwy 225 east of houston in Deer Park Tx next to the San Jacinto Monument State Park. All thier dishes are great but I am a fan of value, good food, good price, good portions. They have and all-you-can-eat for $24 that included among other things oysters on the half shell and fried gulf shrimp. That in itself is worth the price. The shrimp are fresh off the boat and you can taste the difference.

Happy eating,

It is where the old San Jacinto Inn used to be. The original locaction of the MI was across the street and burned down a few years back.

I notice their all you can eat deal is 23-bucks. The last time I was at the San Jacinto Inn it was all you could eat for $2.95.

I used to love San Jacinto Inn, was sorry to see it close. I've never been to Monument and didn't even realize it's still around but it looks good. Not many AYCE places around anymore; I might just order off the menu.

            Michael Hoffman,
$2.95,WOW. How long ago was that?

Oltheimmer, I like the AYCE because I love oysters on the half shell. A couple of cold ones and a couple of dozen oysters, and what I can down in fried shrimp and I already ate more than the $23 price if I had ordered off the menu. Like the old beer commercial said "Friend it don't get better than this.". Everything is good though, my wife loves the grilled or blackened fish with Ponchitrane Sauce.

You're making it sound awfully tempting. For some reason at these AYCE places I feel a compulsion to try everything and eat a 'well balanced' meal, all the while over-stuffing myself .

At Captain Benny's I used to do a dozen on the half shell, a dozen cold boiled, a cup of gumbo and a beer and that was all I needed. All that for less than $20 but I know they've gone up on their prices.

Don't know if it is in the current one, but I've seen coupons in the Entertainment books (fundraiser coupon book sold by school kids) for The Monument Inn!!
