More in Chicago

Lots of discussion about the famous Italian Beef and Chicago style hot dog, but there is more. Common is the "Maxwell Street" polish still available throught Chicagoland. A good one is a huge sausage, cut with diagonal slits, and grilled. It comes with grilled onions a large bun. Optional are sweet or hot peppers. Then there is the unique "Breaded Steak" made famous by Ricobene's. This is a large very thin slice of roast beef that is lightly breaded and deep fried. It is rolled up, and covered with marinara sauce on a large bun. This is my favorite Chicago food, and can be found at only a few places. This comes out distincly different than the thicker "chicken fried" style of breaded steak. Note: Things that come with onions have them automaticly grilled in oil/grease in Chicago. If you want none or raw onions, you have to ask for that. Chicago food has nothing that is dry!
