Mr Chips and Ed Sails Meet Sat, 04/12/08 7:04 AM (permalink)
it was our great pleasure for trudy and me to meet fellow roadfooder Ed Sails, along with his brother and sister in law, last week at Novak's in Albany, Oregon.
Novak's is a roadfood anomaly, a full fledged Hungarian restaurant and bakery in an Oregon small town. Albany is 75 miles south of Portland, roughly halfway between Salem and Eugene. The baked goods feature European specialties and the menu includes chicken paprika, hunters sausage, goulash, pork and a host of delights. The owner is in his eighties and is supposed to be retired but he is there a lot and still the life of the party.. Desserts are supposed to be good but dinner portions are so huge I've been too full to try one.
Ed was a delightful companion. Witty, charming, lots of photos of roadfood friends, the meal flew by. I look forward to meeting him in Long beach and visiting his wife's tea room.

I have also had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ed Sails as well as his beautiful bride, Beverly. Her place, The Vintage Tea Leaf in Long Beach, is truly something to behold.

            Dearfolk,
Thusfar, I've only met Poverty Pete. When are y'all coming to my neck of the woods, or do I got to stick my neck out to y'all's?

You are right at the top of the list of Roadfooders I most want to meet! And to think I was in Athens just last October.
