Mushy Sausage Wed, 04/27/11 8:19 PM (permalink)
Whew! I just opened a new jar of Fischer's pickled sausage and the first one I pulled out was softer than mushy. The second one -- I tossed the first one away after two bites -- was even more mushy. I then used my fingers to feel the things and they were all disgustingly mushy. Thank goodness I still have three more jars.

I hate when that happens.  I even wrote Fischer about the problem because it wasn't the norm.  The nice woman who wrote me back didn't have a solution to the problem.

I bought mine through Ebay because they're not available here.  After the mushy bottle my Fischer sausage consumption ended.  I figure mine must have been on the shelf too long.

This was the first jar of the Fischer ones I ever got like that.

I read these kinds of posts and I go all mushy, it's embarassing!

You do know they have pills that will fix a mushy sausage?

I didn't see anything about link sausages.

I just opened a new jar of Fischer pickled sausages and nothing mushy at all. Just good stuff with a nice residual burn on the lips and tongue.

Perhaps the original jar you opened (which was mushy) was intended to be shipped to Jolly Olde England and be served with a side of their mushy peas.

That would be a good match.

Write Fischer.  Laura wrote me back about my jar of mushies.  No satisfaction, but I did get a response.

They need to know this is happening.  Mushy sausages are a very bad thing.
