Price Chopper in Ct. has Pier 33 Gourmet mussels, frozen on sale 4 1lb. bags, $5.00 I bought 2 bags, says to boil in bag for 7-8 mins. I'm thinking they'll come out like steamed. haven't tried them yet, but looking forward to them.

Let us know how they turn out...I think I saw them here at the Price Chopper in Latham, NY...just a bit weird to buy frozen mussels in the shell...especially when they usually have fresh...but then again..I bet you don't have to de-beard them either...

sk bob, In case you didn't know, debearding a mussel is pulling off the little hairy piece on the side or the shell...the mussel uses it to attach to pilings, rocks...ropes (if farmed)....can be a royal PITA...so again, let me know how they come out...so I can try them. thanks, Linda

Finaly tried the frozen mussels. They were already cooked and flash frozen in a vacuum bag. They were farmed on ropes and already shaved. After 7 mins. in boiling water in the bag, (they were packed wiyh a little sea water) , they came out just like steamers. Already opened , I took out the meat , dragged it in a little drawn butter. They were pretty good, I'd definatly buy them again.
