My 2013 Holiday Baking Extravaganza

It took me three days, but I just finished. Grand total for this year: 6 dozen white chocolate pumpkin cookies. 4 dozen lemon cookies. 6 dozen Nutella cookies. 5 dozen cream cheese walnut cookies. 7 dozen molasses spice cookies. 3 batches (5 pans) of gingerbread. 6 dozen cheese-olive crackers. 7 dozen cheese crackers. 48 chocolate-Ferrero Rocher brownies with Nutella buttercream frosting. 1 loaf walnut buttermilk bread. 2 loaves cherry pie filling bread. Also, 3 cups whipped garlic-herb cream cheese spread. 2 cups three onion cream cheese spread. Some time either Friday night or Saturday in the car on the way to my dad's house I've got to put together 3 dozen "Grinch Kebabs" (you've probably seen them on Facebook...green grape, banana slice, strawberry, mini marshmallow all stacked up on a long toothpick).

Not bad for a woman heading in for surgery to repair a broken foot in the morning, huh?

Edit:
Just realized...these aren't even a little bit regional recipes...I chose this forum because it was for recipes, but I think maybe it should've been in food.

The oven's going for all this and you couldn't be bothered to slip in a nice beef tenderloin?

Wow!! That is one thing I miss from my childhood - my mom would spend a couple of weeks baking before Christmas and we would have dozens of cookies, breads, pies, etc. She always made trays for friends and family, and for my dad to take to work. With just two of us I try to do a batch of one special kind every year, but I do miss the baking extravaganza! I hope your family enjoys your efforts as much as I remember mine!!

Thank you! I do trays to give away, trays for the family parties, and usually I bring trays to work as well. I usually try to do at least eight different things so everyone ends up with something they like.

However...as it turns out, my mother was unable to manage driving to the hospital because of the weather, so she made me call and cancel my surgery. Otherwise I'd be at the hospital right now.

But hey...I have a ton of cookies to eat, and an unexpected day to myself. That's good, right? Yeah.

You could always take them one of the other wonderful things you create without having to bake.
As Mr. Rogers used to say, "Won't you be my neighbor?"

Wonderful baking extravaganza! Thank you so much for including the links to the recipes!

My small baking effort: 5 dozen Sandies (aka Mexican Wedding Cookies), 6 dozen Lemon Cranberry Refrigerator Cookies, 5 loaves Amish Wheat Bread, 4 loaves Swedish Cardamom Coffee Bread, 2 dozen Sausage Crescent Nuggets, and Pimiento cheese for a party.

Take care, hope your foot surgery goes well you and you enjoy your holidays!

Surgery is now tomorrow morning (Monday the 23rd). They assure me I'm coming home with good drugs.

Put together trays for the family party today, and discovered I made too many things to include them all on one, even on my biggest one. So two trays...whatever.

I did not do much baking, but I did end up making a few things, and I came to the realization... I now know why Americans are turning into diabetics.  In the past week I have went through 20+ lbs white sugar, 5 lbs of brown sugar, a gallon of corn syrup.

    I made:

    4 batches Peanut Brittle
10 lbs of fudge - Choc, peanut butter & maple
    4 batches party mix
    4 batches muddy buddies
    2 batches oatmeal cookie dough
2 batches chocolate chip cookie dough
2 batches peanut butter cookie dough
    2 batches snickerdoodle dough
2 batches home made chocolate covered cherries

    12 jars peach raspberry jam
    12 jars black berry jam
    6 jars of peach jam

To round out all the jam I made this year and to make the totals equal
Everyone gets 4 different varieties of jam or jelly
