Out on the West Coast are restaurants where the name of the city precedes the name of Joe, such as Marina, San Jose and for me Marin Joe's. It is the closest that you will come to old school red sauce Italian with generous portions.
Joe's Scramble is well known and done at every Joe's you will find. It is eggs scrambled with ground beef, onion, mushroom, spinach and cheese.

Add cheese and eggs:

This makes a great breakfast or dinner.  Hot sauce is recommended.

I can't stop making hash. I got a great deal on a small brisket and after a sandwich and noshing, I had this left:

I let it cook for some time and get nice and crispy:

Looks like a piece of corned beef brisket to me.  Good job on the breakfast Mark.

Marin Joes is also quite close to my home, and an old standby. In SF, a neighborhood old school red sauce style Italian restaurnat that is excellent is Ernestos on Clement.

Ann, I'm thinking that because the beef is cold, the fat has turned white and gives a sausage-y appearance . check out the bottom right corner ( by the garlic ) you can see the grain running NW-SE.  Dawn

It's definitely corned beef brisket. Somehow, I don't think Doggydaddy can't tell the difference between the brisket he cooked and raw sausage.

The addresses vary from each city. For instance, I went to Marin Joe's and there was a Corte Madera Joe's across the highway. I would also go to San Rafael Joe's.  There is a Marina Joe's in S.F., and I think there are some in the South Bay. I got a response from Michael Stern when I suggested that they check one out the next time they were in the Bay Area. They fit the Roadfood model. They serve lunch and dinner, frequently till late...

The scramble uses ground beef, it is also very good if you use bulk sausage instead of ground beef. The hash is cooked and cold corned beef.
