My Favorite Krystal Closed

The Krystal I frequent is closed after over 40 years in this location (Jordan Lane, Huntsville, AL).

I went there this am and when I pulled up it looked dark and no cars. I pulled to the drive-thru and the menu was down. I don't know if this is temporary or permanent but am I disappointed.

This Krystal is the one I use to go to when I was in High School, college (many, many late night visits for gut bombs) and then with my son (who is also a Krystal fan), and then with my grandkids (they love their chili-cheese fries). So for 3 generations we have had Krystals here, but alas no more.

They must be shutting a bunch of them down I know the Franklin KY one is shut down and it was a new facility and the one in Madison TN closed and it was across the street from a busy mall

The one in Danville, KY closed over the summer, after just a couple of years of operation in an old GD Ritzy's building. Instead of driving 25 miles there for Krystals, I have to drive 45 miles to Richmond. Both White Castle locations are still going strong up in Lexigton, though.

Both of the Krystals in Panama City closed about a year and a half ago, but for
some odd reason, the lone Krystal in Dothan, two hours up the road, is still
thriving, despite the massive competition surrounding it.

I lived in Tuscaloosa, Al. for 5 yrs. in the early 90's and discovered
Krystal's. It was a great place to get a dog and fries for little money.
It feed my poor family many-a-times when we counted our pennies and still
wanted a good flavour. I hope to re-vist Tuscaloosa and find the Krystal
palace there.
What is happening that the Krystal closed? They are so popular.

Fieldthistle - I don't know what is going on with the Krystal's. We still have about 3 left in our area and I hope they don't close. Every so often I have to have my Krystal fix.

The one in my town (of work) folded six or so months ago. Building for sale. No others in path of home to work or back. Plenty of opportunities when I travel, though. Oh well.

The one here between Kroger and the post office off I-55 has closed. What is going on? Sounds like a lot of them are shutting down.

Let me go on record as saying I ate at the Krystal location in Williamsburg, Kentucky, at I-75 Exit 11 (KY 92) on August 5 last year. It looked pretty healthy with about as many people as I expected for a restaurant to remain open.

I'd often go to the Krystal in Foley, AL (still open) when visiting friends in the panhandle of Florida. For a jaunt, we would often drive to the outlets in Foley, then have a meal at Krystal. Sure tasted good after getting our exercise walking around the big outlet center there.

Not sure why Krystal's are closing, and they seem tight lipped about it. There are both corporate owned and franchised locations. The corporation is now private, owned by an investment company. If the closed stores are corporate owned, obviously the investment company is taking a "show no mercy" policy to under-performing stores. For franchised stores, its anybody's guess.

Is Krystal linked to Rally's? We have had a couple of new Rally's open up on the Indiana side of Louisville within the last year or so. I had heard that Rally's was teamed with another burger company, and thought maybe this was it.

We have lost a bunch of Hardee's in the past couple of years. Just closed and "abandoned" . Lots of for-sale signs, but no business's jumping into the buildings.

We just returned from New Orleans and there's one that seems to be doing fine on Bourbon Street.

Seems like they're dropping all up and down I-75. Georgetown was the closest one to me, and it's gone. We saw quite a few others dark as we were traveling this summer. Hard to believe that a 24-hour restaurant on I-75 couldn't make a go at it.

Out Krystal here in Kingsport, TN not only closed but they took the entire building away. (It was some kind of pre-fab unit)This happened several years ago.
