My Mailman hates me, now yours can hate you

Here's a gift from Red to y'all if you so desire.

I get offers about 3 times weekly from a net place called "freebizmag' and it's been a goldmine for me and a pain in the tush for my mailman. It offers all kinds of magazines, any you can think of and many you can't.....for free year and two year subscriptions....no catches. Currently I get...for free mind you the following:Good Housekeeping, People, Interview, Movieline, Better Homes and Gardens,TV guide, Country, Taste of Home, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Chocolatier, Vegetarian Times, several kids magazines, Time, Newsweek, US News and World Reports, The New Republic, National Review, Kiplingers, Sports Illustrated, Wall Street Journal, American Cowboy(I'm a single gal....nice eyecandy in there), Alaska, Mid Atlantic, Southern Living and over one hundred computer/internet tech related ones. This week they are offering a charter subscription to International Epicure, a bi monthly publication. Here's how it's done.......and to finagle it a bit
Each offer you answer a survery tailored to the job you list as having.....very simple and short.....I've found it's best to list yourself in the upper echelon of things for most part.....more choices that way......and you can "change " your occupation to get more offers and variety. With each feature offer, they usually offer 4 to six other magazines also for free.....usually lesser known but very worthy. Also, as you progress through the short survey, they will offer you a bonus grab bag of magazines, titles not listed, for your" office waiting room" I've never gotten an objectionable or bad publication with that, some of the magazines in that offer are ten and twelve dollars an issue...

Now that I've revealed my little treasure chest....if anyone would like to try it out, starting with this weeks offer of International Epicure...just let me know your email.......I have to forward the offer....it' not one where you can go to the site and just get on your own....Hope y'all enjoy

There has been prolifigations of various subscribtion scams. Hope this isn't one of them. They sign you up for a year, tying it in with your credit card. Then after 4,5,6,7 months you credit card is used to charge you for annual renewal of the magazine. They try to spread it out so your not getting a sudden large billing. But this is always much sooner then a legitimate subscription is renewable.

They will keep pulling this scam until you change your credit card number. appearently the vis or mc fraud departments have been reticient to follow up and eliminate these business, due to the proportial small percentages of complaints. You can wind up spending a lot of time getting this streightened out.

Hope your supplier is on the up & up.

Nope....no credit card information is taken...zip zilch zero......I've been doing this for 3 years now and ne'er a problem. Only addresses or personal info given is name and whether you want them sent to home or business address, nor does it increase spam mail in either email or home mail.

btw....I teach internet security professionally and what you say is true in all too many cases. I was introduced to this outfit by a professional IT group I belong to, that watchdogs such kind of behavior

Thanks Red, but my mail delivery person would commit murder. I'm gone a lot and the mail piles up as it is, then, I decide to move, the subscriptions are around 3 months behind and end up with 2 or 3 address change labels on em'.

I can second redtressed's comments. I've gotten many magazines through freebizmag. As far as I understand, they're giving away these free consumer (non-business) magazines because the publishers need to meet circulation guarantees for their adverstisers. It's also possible to get these same "freebies" on ebay for a nominal sum that goes to the broker, not to the publisher.

With Freebizmag, you will always get a pop-up from their sister company trying to sell consumer subs, but I just close them or use a pop-up stopper. Also, they will send you a limited number of email solicitations, but they don't release your email, they send the solicitations for other companies. I get at most 2-3 a month, often none.

Thanks Hilldweller for backing up my claim. I know it DOES sound too good to be true, but that's the best part about it......it's a nice surprise when one finds out it is true, and reaps the rewards.

Yeeeeeee Haaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwww..I love getting email for a change that doesn't want me to become a chickmagnet or to make a million dollars in one hour on the net. This is great

Oops..another thing I forgot to mention....well two actually. Sometimes you will get offers of free software, and most of it is great stuff. I'm not talking about the "BONUS" pop up ad that comes with the email.......but the offer that comprises the main body of the letter. Secondly, some of these magazines will be made availiable to you in digital format, which means you will be able able to download them onto your pc and read using a program they supply called Zinio Reader......the format is the same as a regular magazine.....just no paper to worry about.

Yes ok.....that's what I meant. Click on the click now link. Fill out the initial job ,job title etc info and be creative ;) Also you can do this more than once initially by using different emails. Just be sure to keep record of the accounts and passwords they give you for future use. You'll then come to a screen that has the International Epicure then usually 4 or five offerings below. If you want any of those, tick them and continue on. Your survey will be based on magazines you picked and your job(sic)As you progess through the survey you will come to a section that talks about l50.00 of free magazines for your"waiting room or similar" and a menu of interests below it....tick a lot of those interests. This is where the cream of the crop tends to come from......but you won't know until you start getting them, what they are. Also, there is an option to use frequent flyer miles, which I did since some of mine were expiring.......that gave me a total of 6 other magazines like Time etc. The offers change constantly and are rarely the same in succession, so again...you just have to keep being creative...Also helps to list yourself as a director, ceo , manager etc

I went to the website, and typed in my real position, which is in education. Surprise...no free magazines are available to me at this time.

You said to be creative, and I think that advice is right on target...if you want free publications, you have to have the waiting room audience and/or buying power they are looking for.

They really don't check up on you, though? Anyone can just type in anything? I just don't dare...

If you want free consumer magazines, you have go the unique url for the page that offers a particular consumer magazine "X," during the period that magazine "X" is being offered. If the magazine is available, everyone qualifies. Once they reach the quota for magazine "X" that are available, nobody qualifies.

The free business magazines (which is their primary business) are targeted to particular audiences, so one "qualifies" for the appropriate type of business magazine based upon one's career and job description.
