My New Favorite Breakfast in Mesa AZ

It's the RED MOUNTAIN CAFE IN MESA AZ.
4410 E University Dr
Mesa, AZ 85205
NE Corner of University Dr & Greenfield RD.
I've driven by this place many times and never noticed it but for some reason, it caught my eye this morning.
Maybe it was all the shiny Harley's sitting out front or all the cars with the MI, MN, WI, IA, license plates!
Mesa is a haven for Snowbirds from the Midwest and they've started to roost in their mobile homes and doublewides for the Winter!
No web site - Don't need one! Word of mouth is all they need along with recommendations in places like Urbanspoon:
http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/22/263999/restaurant/Phoenix/Red-Mountain-Cafe-Mesa
The place is owned by "Yoopers" from the "UP".
The crowd and employees this AM, (They open at 5AM!) were older people who love good home cooked meals. The only kids I saw there were with their Grandparents - Trying to educate them on what a good, stick to your ribs, Midwestern Breakfast tastes like.
The Bikers are older harmless guys and gals reliving their youth!
My standard "Test Breakfast" is usually Chicken/Country Fried Steak and Biscuits. The place passed with flying colors! Excellent Gravy and Home Fries too. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked terrific. 3 Egg Omelettes, Pancakes that covered the plate, French Toast, South of the Border Skillets, etc. My Coffee Cup was never empty. Great service even though they were slammed.
They have an AYCE Fish Fry on Wed & Fri. I'm gonna try that.
For all you visitors who rave about Matts Big Breakfast------Matt's doesn't even come in a close second to this place.
Put it on your "Must Visit On My Next Trip to Phoenix" list. 5 Stars!

Why am I not surprised that your icon on Urban Spoon is almost identical to the wallpaper on my desktop?

going to look at the map now.

It's in the East Valley. It's about 10-12 miles from the place where I-10 EAST (Tucson) and Rt. 60, (Globe exit) split. Take Rt 60 EAST.
It's North of Rt. 60. Get off Rt 60 at the Greenfield Rd. Exit and turn left. Go to University. It's in a shopping center on the NE Corner.

The Bride & I went to te Red Mountain this AM for Breakfast. We were a little early and most of the Snowbirds have flown back North so we didn't have to wait. I had the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs over Easy, potatoes and a 1/2 order of biscults and gravy. the Bride wasn't very hungry, but she spotted a piece of Custard Pie in the showcase and had that with a coke so she was sugared up for the day! The Slice was the size of a quarter of the pie, homemade, and only $2.75! Other places would have charged at least 5 bucks for that pie! She said it was delicious.
When my order came, the 1/2 order of biscuits & Gravy was largewr than any order I've ever seen! The Gravy was loaded wih plentiful chunks of sausage too! $2.50!
The potatoes were made from scratch, not frozen. Very large eggs cooked just right on top of a good doctored up corned beef hash. My coffee cup never got below half full. Constantly refilled by a pleasant "Old School" "Honey', "Sweety" Waitress. Total bill with Tax, $16.001
For all you frequent Visitors to the Valley, put this one on your "Must Visit' list.
Fish Frys on Wed & Friday night too!

Below is Biscuit & Gravy, eggs & home fries. A real Yooper Breakfast!
