MiamiDon OK, the best cheeseburger I've ever had was at the Brickyard pub/grill/tavern/bar/whatever in Daytona Beach, Florida. Looks good, I will keep in mind, thank you for the suggestion & pictures (extra points)!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, toyman70, the wings are special at the Brickyard, too. They use some combination of frying, and then saucing and grilling, that tastes very good. The time I was there, we got two different flavors, but I don't remember which. Here's one of the orders:

6star In your "10 to 20 mile" category that are reviewed here on Roadfood: Parker's BBQ (which also serves chicken dinners) in Wilson (NC): http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/2131/parkers Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room (chicken dinners) in Savannah (GA): http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/195/mrs-wilkes-dining-room I believe the original poster specifically indicated that he was looking for fried chicken and burgers. Be that as it may, although I haven't been to Parkers in about 8 years, they do serve some decent (but I wouldn't put it in the great category) Eastern NC Style BBQ. Mrs Wilkes is a traditional "family style" southern dining room. Although the place is a classic, the food itself is very ordinary, they do have fried chicken and on my recent visit last February I found it to be nothing special. In Richmond VA I discovered one of the best restaurants I've hit all year (and they're right off I95) and yes, they do have some really good fried chicken.

IMHO my restaurant serves as good a burger as any place in the Country, !/2 lb, hand pattied, locally raised, slaughtered, and processed [Norman Shriver Meats], hand cut twice fried, french fries, toasted Sesame seeded 5" roll, all the toppings,....problem is I'm about 55 miles from I95, near the Pa. Md. line!

I don't know what your problem is, but clearly you got many...and I would hope that if you put the blood sweat, and money into opening a restaurant, you to would plug it when possible. Your snarky attitude is well known. Since you live in Luray, why don't you continue to search for new much deeper Caverns.

By any chance were you talking about http://chubbysbbq.com/ 16430A Old Frederick Road, Emmitsburg, MD - (301) 447-3322??? Listen, we have many vendors who are active posters on this site. Biker Jim, Chicago style Dogs, etc. IMHO they add a great deal to this site, and some of us enjoy the updates on their business. After all, in reality, they are what this site is all about.

Ok, this chicken isn't fried, but if you are lucky they will have some when you stop in. I always get the special for the day, but I am sure they always have fried chicken. Its from the Summerton Diner right off I-95 in Summerton, SC. I really love that place. Its the one I recommend for you above others off I-95 in SC for its quality and closeness to the exit. Otherwise Hartsville has a Yogi Bear Honey Fried Chicken that everyone here says is the best, but I can't give you my own recommendation yet. Ruths Drive in in Hartsville, has pimento cheesburgers as well, which were shortlisted as best in the state in a magazine. I have only had one smoothered in gravy. Hartsville may be further off than you want to drive. In Florence, SC my favorite is Apple Annies. They make their own pimento cheese for their burgers, and get the home chips if you stop in:

Try Millie's Diner for some great country food at Exit 74A or Exit 74B off I 95 in Richmond, VA for great southern food. You might find something besides a good burger. Wandering Jew is not in favor of Millie's so try Dairy Bar Restaurant in Richmond, VA at Exit 78 off I 95 for fried chicken. Millie's Diner @ 2603 East Main St., Richmond, VA 804 - 643 - 5512. http://www.milliesdiner.com/ The Dairy Bar Restaurant @ 1602 Roseneath Rd., Richmond, VA 804 - 355 - 1937. http://www.dairybarrestaurant.com/
