Say Ed, you could sail down to the Canal, up along the coast to the Mississippi, then up to the Ohio and on into Cincinnati.

Great suggestion, Michael. I just hope the outboard motor still fits on the claw-footed bathtub.

I checked. Home Depot has an adapter.

I am a possible. I will not know my work schedule until the week of. Thanks for the invite, CajunKing.
Wanderingjew~~ Coffee-wise, near downtown, has some new options. I do not drink coffee, but have heard great things about this place   https://www.facebook.com/collectiveespressoOTR

There are a couple of locations of Tazza Mia, as well.
http://tazzamia.com/

And, Findlay Market has The Bean Haus. Findlay Market should be a destination.
http://www.findlaymarket.org/

I work at a hotel restaurant in Downtown Cincinnati, so part of my job is to know the city. I am a wealth of information, if anyone has questions. The hotel has recently sold, so my job security and ability to offer "stuff" has changed. It is up in the air right now. But, I am more than willing to offer advice on anything Cincinnati!!

The 360 restaurant at the Radisson in Covington KY is a revelation. For the views. The food can be up and down. I have had good and bad food. The Sunday Brunch is fun, for the views. Not so much the food, but the last time I was there it was only $17.99. Really a good deal. There are fun facts to read about Greater Cincinnati, as you revolve around the top of the hotel, It takes around 1 & 1/2 hours to do the revolution. If you don't eat there, it is worth stopping for a drink at the bar, for the view.
I am one of the three locals that have met TJ. He is real!! ;)  I would love to meet up with everyone if my schedule allows!!

No Johnny Fever, or Andy Travis, or Mr. Carlson, but there is actually a local TV station called WKRP.

I'm looking to make my hotel reservations soon in order to get a good price. Has there been a decision as to where we are going to meet to kick off the tour?

Thanks for the info on coffee
I looked at collective espresso's website- and it appears they just serve "third wave pourover"
It seems Tazza mia is just open during the week.

The Bean Haus and Findlay market in general does capture my attention.

Any thoughts on Coffee Emporium?- they have a 3 or 4 locations around Cincinnati and have gotten alot of fantastic reviews on yelp.

Thanks for the notice CK, but unfortunately my old eyeballs have decided to go the macular degeneration route
and my driving has been severely limited.

Anyone interested in mega amounts of neon or historic bar stuff, Terry's Turf Club is not to be missed.
Oh, and the burgers are scrumpdillicious too !

CNW - I think several attendees will be staying at the Garfield Suite. We have our reservation there.

Tumbleweed, sorry to hear about your vision problems.  I hope you won't let that stand in your way when you've got an old friend with an extra spot in his car who would happily offer you a ride.

CK or whomever is organizing this agenda. Can you please begin to post a possible list of stops on the expedition? We may commute and join the fun for one or both days, depending on what the schedule is.
So set up a tentative list and then those familiar with the area can shuffle it to best fit the time frame.

I do request 2-4 hours at Jungle Jim's main store to really get a chance to check out the great inventory, and get a bunch of 'snack-samples' from the cheese, bakery, and olive/pickle departments.  We may even spurge on a TurDucHen to bring home.  A Graeters stop would be a real blessing as well.
Just suggestions from this old guy...

Hi All,
My Jorgie found this thread about the Chili crawl and we are too excited.  We live in Sardinia outside of Cincy and love our Cincy Chili.  Please put us down for 2 for the crawl in April.

This will have to do for right now. My wife made Cincinnati Chili for my birthday along with Bellereve's recipe for mincemeat pie with Bourbon and pecans.

Davydd,
The chili in that pic looks delicious!  Your wife must have some serious culinary skills.  Did you take a picture of the mince pie with bourbon and pecans?!  If you did, please share it here

That's because it isn't Cincinnati chili. It's real chili. And it isn't being suffocated by cheese.

Also, who else besides me is planning on making this a multiday affair, going beyond the crawl?  How early are you planning on getting into town?  If the crawl is on Saturday the 12th, I reckon we could get in as early as Wednesday or Thursday night for some extracurricular activity.  We'd most likely want to hit the road by late afternoon Sunday.

It was a Cincinnati chili recipe. The cheese was ladled on by me.

I posted the pie in a Thanksgiving thread where Bellereve posted the recipe. Every thread needs photos so here it is again.

CK, I'm not turning my back on any options at this point.  I'd like to see who else is coming in, and on what days before I make any commitments, but a fried chicken stop or two sounds like fun.  Maybe on Sunday, so we're at least heading toward home.

What date(s) are we looking at? Forgive me if I missed it but I looked back through the entire thread and can't find it.

FYI, Jungle Jim's does most of its sampling on Saturdays and Sundays late mornings/early afternoons and usually starts wrapping that up around 4. They give tours -- are you guys considering that? I'm not sure if there are added sampling benefits that go along with that.
