MikeS.

Is this going to be a 2 day event?

If I go, I hope not, since I would like to be back in RI by Monday evening (this will be a driving trip for me)

Wow!  That is an aggressive drive, more than my back could ever handle.  Question, for a drive like this, would it make sense to rack up those miles on a rental car instead of your own?  I find that rentals are cheap out of PVD.

If I go I would leave thursday night and stay over with friends in Jersey. My actual driving would take me to Pittsburgh and back as Buffetbuster would take over on the Pittsburgh to Cinci run...

What about Mariton or Cousin Johnny?

I know there are more who have expressed interest, but I lost the paper that had my list on it.

I have tried for 2 days to bring up the 2009 trip report from the last one to post its link on here, but RF, my computer and xfinity have not agreed.

Include me as tentative. I think this will be fun, but if something May Festival pops up I may not make it.

I have not been for MANY years, and I know it is NOT roadfood, but I was thinking that a dinner here

might be a fun thing, the group can see some of the most beautiful views of the city, and have a good meal too.

Any Thoughts????

Heck, I'm not missing anything. I have coffee several times a week at the Waffle House. But I admit that lleechef's coffee is better.

I had my five year check with a colonoscopy yesterday morning.  They put me to sleep with Michael Jacksons favorite sleep drug and after I awoke, I was hungry and Roz took me to the Waffle House just down the street and I had their waffle, bacon, two eggs, hash browns and coffee.  Double outstanding.  They  are consistent and always good.  What is amazing is they have remained the same over all the years.  I know of no chain that has done that??????????

The worst thing about a colonoscopy is two things:  !:  The prep which starts two days in advance of the procedure and not being able to consume any solid food for 36 hours and spending time in the bathroom for hours.
2: After the procedure you go home.  They blow your colon full of air and you can imagine the results of that.  Many five minute f--ts that do not stop.  " />

I'm 55, so I had mine five years ago. I always wanted to ride the space shuttle. I never wanted to feel as if I am the launching shuttle.

Only after the day did I discover the great advice of the prep process from Dave Barry: Remember that vodka is a clear liquid.

Somehow I think starting colonoscopy prep immediately following a chili crawl might not be wise.

And going on a crawl immediately following a colonoscopy might not be the swiftest of moves, either.

I had one. Nuff said.
I am hoping to make this trip. I am leaning towards it, as a bus would be feasible. Or Bob, depending on his travel schedule could either join us or drop me off. Sounds like a lot of fun with people I have either met or would love to meet!

Dale,
I would assume that one of the major stops for exploration would be at Jungle Jim's in Fairfield, OH. We need at least a couple of hours, hopefully four or more, to really examine that unbelieveable Market...And the coffee market is designed just for you.
Here's the JJ website and their weekly grocery  ad....

I could spend hours in a place like this !

I did find a place through some research...a LOCAL chain
Coffee Emporium
If I do go, I would likely be tagging along with Buffetbuster- I'm sure he won't mind a quick stop.....I could always entice him with offering to buy the first couple of rounds at Graeters

Food? In the Cincinnati area? Not hardly. Whenever I'm forced to go there I never eat. Well, I used to. But that was when Maisonette, the only five-star rated restaurant in Ohio, was still operating. I've heard there is a whole thread on Roadfood about nowhere to eat in Cincinnati.

Pine Club is good. But it's in Dayton, not Cincinnati. C'mon up here and try The Top. Ask Poverty.

Alabama Fish Bar is on my "extra-curricular" list.  They're in a sketchy neighborhood with no place to sit down inside, but I've eaten ala-trunk there on several occasions without incident.

This could turn into a loooong weekend.

I would love to attend this eat and great . . . as the date approaches I'll have a better idea as to whether it will be possible.  I'm crossing my fingers that my work schedule allows it!
