Technically i am not a new poster, but i have been missing in action for awhile now(I left after "someone" was kicked off, big political mess), so to reintroduce myself back into roadfood properly i thought i should post here. So i am still married(gives herself a pat on the back for that one), still a redhead, still love sushi, and i still love to travel. I turn the big old 32 next month, i missed everyone here, good to see i am still a cheeseburger.

Hi everyone. I just discovered this site last week and have really been enjoying it. I am a Sassy Grandmother Raised In The South; therfore, I call myself SassyGrits. I live in Huntsville, AL, and have been here for 40 yrs. I was a AirForce Brat. I have one son and two great grandchildren. I can make some mean enchaladia and absolutely love German food (schnitzl w/mushrooms and onions being my favorite). My favorite chain place to eat is Outback and my favorite place to eat in Huntsville is Greinbriers Restaurant. Hope to have many forums to chat in and enjoy "talking" about food. See ya'al later.

Finally found this topic after indulging in some very interesting other ones and just found this site through another forum - BBQ related. I'm a NY transplant to Oregon now. Retired here after a nice career as a timber forester for the state. Live near the ocean and enjoy its' bounty. My wife and I like to travel and enjoy foods of all types. I'm always making something like my own sausage, smoked and pickled fish, kimchee, etc. Two daughters. One lives here in town and another ex-coasty lives in NC with her CG husband and is finishing her mechanical engineer studies at NC State. I look forward to reading all the food adventures you all have and are kind enough to share.

Long time Roadfood groupie, relatively recent poster. Born and raised a Jersey girl, now live in Virginia (hence the VA part of my RF name) with my husband and cats. I work for a transportation company that recently became a part of a much larger transportation company and do volunteer work with Planned Parenthood. I love football and baseball and will happily talk both with anyone. And, of course, I love Roadfood.

OK, boyz and goils. I would like to know who I compliment/support and who I offend.

Hey! I'm a lifetime foodie. Have gone on several cross country car trips with hubby and the kids, Roadfood books on the front seat next to me. I remember this terrific Strawberry chiffon pie in Colorado... Recently retired, we split our time between Florida and Queens, New York. I'm a dessert addict, constantly researching and preparing. My favorite time of year is Thanksgiving. I prepare everything for that special day, starting in late September.I make about 30 different types of desserts for this, and love giving out goody bags to all my guests afterwards.We have a Post -Thanksgiving the day after, with most our friends this time. Goody bags for all, again. I get as much pleasure from preparing food that I do from eating. And how I love food! Growing up and livingin New York makes it easy for me to locate just about anything I need.

Known by my co-workers on the Arsenal as a Coupon Queen, as I normally always go out to eat with a coupon, or search ebay long enough for a 20% off gift card for most restaurants (they are there, you just have to hunt for them). Tullahoma native, civilian in the DC metropolitan Area for the Navy for 12+ years and then moved to Huntsville, AL to work for the Army so that I could take care of ailing father in Tullahoma. Father passed a couple of years ago, but I'm still here (NoVa housing prices have skyrocketed, so I've stayed put).

Got interested in non-chain restaurants when I bought a paperback book for my Dad for Christmas probably 10 years ago that was about non-chains with really good food in and around the Nashville, TN area. Dad was game, so when we had to be in Nashville for a doctor's appointment, we would try somewhere new, instead of eating at Sylvan Park all the time (love it, but it gets old EVERY time we are in Nashville). Since I've been reading roadfood, I've been to Hay's Smokehouse and to Ridgewood Barbeque.

Favorite restaurant: Marvin's in Ardmore (about 2 1/2 miles off 65 at exit 1) for great fried chicken and on the right night, fried catfish. I've already done a post about Marvin's when someone was looking for good fried chicken in Huntsville.

My name is Beth and my husband calls me Gracie....we've been married 21 years this month and we have a glorious 7 year old daughter, adopted at birth, Betsy Rose.

I was born in Indiana and lived in various places in the state until I was 20. Then a disastrous first marriage took me through the Army wife days and I lived in KY and DC and other places for a while.

I met Grizzy when we were 23 and he was my neighbor and we could not STAND each other at first.

We lived in Michigan until June, and now we're back in Indiana, although a different place than either of us lived before, but it's only one county away from where I grew up so it doesn't seem all that strange. We live on an island in a nicely shabby little lake house, and love it.

I have, at times, been an aerobics instructor, a diet counselor, a nanny, a rental agent, a floral designer, a journalist, a camp cook and a bookseller.

We are in 'the village at Winona,' otherwise known as Winona Lake...actually on an island. Warsaw is just a minute away and we love living here.

I was born in Goshen and my husband in Richmond, but during our lifetime we have lived (separately or together) in Ligonier, Cromwell, Middlebury, Elkhart, Indianapolis and Muncie!

When we knew we were moving here we started watching "Hoosiers" and "Rudy" again and got all excited about this wonderful state again....:)

Hey, y'all--

JT here. I guess I'm a flatlander by right of my birth in Ohio, grew up in Ill, moved to Maine for school and then NC because it IS the Southern part of heaven. I spent 17 years in restaurants and worked in every position imaginable. Through a series of lucky and unlucky events and decisions, I now work as a project supervisor for a major, multinational corporation which sends me all over the world. I love restaurants (as a customer) and always look for local places to eat when I'm on the road--which is nearly all the time.

I am single, middle-aged, no kids, cat owner, hobbyist/neophyte in the kitchen, read obsessively, still write handwritten letters. Oh, yeah and I hate sunsets, long walks on the beach and romantic candle-lit dinners for two.

Welcome JT1 from a fellow cat, and animal lover. Lots of those here. We even have a cat thread somewhere I think?

Oh, and thanks to Mike for making this thread easy for new folks to find!
