My name is Chuck and I live in the suburban Milwaukee area and work in an office. I know a few of the posters here in real life. I enjoy all kinds of food, especially Mexican, Thai, & Indian.

Have been posting for a couple weeks already... I'm originally from central NY (Auburn), currently living in Syracuse, but have spent time living in Columbus, OH, and several years in Seattle, moved back here in 2002 to be closer to family. I do IT and marketing work for an industrial manufacturer in downtown Syracuse. I love cooking and eating, and talking about cooking and eating, so this place is a good find for me.

I've been posting for a few months here and there, but didn't see this thread.

I'm in my 30s and single. I currently live in NC but am moving soon to the eastern Illinois area. I like to cook, mostly using cookbooks and recipes; I don't have any formal cooking or food experience -- just what I've taught myself. I love eating in restaurants, especially roadfood type places, although I'm not terribly picky.

Hi
Just found this site today. We live is southeast Texas, not a native. Just returned from MO. like to travel the back roads and see the country. Try to stay off the Interstates. We are retired and travel overseas about once a year. Been to UK a few times, Malta, Egypt, middle east. My problem is I like to eat tooo much. Looking forward to all of the side road places to eat.

Hi kland01s. I'm going to the Charleston-Mattoon area.

I remember having a wonderful roadfood meal at the American Legion in Mattoon, don't know if they still do that. Being that there is a Community College and EIU nearby as well as access to I-57, I'm sure all the chains are represented. Let us know if you find something Road worthy!

Will do! I didn't get a chance to explore any restaurants when I was there the first time, so I'm looking forward to finding some good places.

Hi everyone. My name is Joe, and my wife's name is Karla. We are from ventral Virginia. We used to do day trips every weekend I didn't have to work. They addition of a baby girl kind of changed that! We are planning our first major road trip since the birth of our daughter, a 1500 mile trip to Oakland, Ia. I saw a review of a place in Atlantic, owned by a poster here, The Farmers Market. Since Atlantic is only about a half hour from Oakland, it's going to be a must visit! Thanks for a great forum!

Greetings to all from a native of North Carolina now living in Buffalo. Yes, I know that is the opposite of the normal path (seems as though you can run into someone from Buffalo anywhere in the country), but this is really a great place to live. Of course having the roast beef, fish fries, pizza, wings, Ted's hot dogs, etc. type of food helps. Anyway, this web site is great and has opened to my eyes to the types of places to eat at while on travel for work. Just reading a recent trip report about food in this area has inspired me to make sure to go to Schwabl's for roast beef tomorrow (I won't be in the neighborhood of Charlie the Butcher). Looking forward to getting to know you all and always ready to show any visitors to the area some good roadfood. Thanks for all your hard work at posting those informative reports and pictures.

Welcome Boop, Seamus, priyanka, Stan/Ann (love the nick), westley, PapaDog, karjoe, and Buffalo Tarheel. Buffalo you might find that you enjoy the ayersians' reports in particular; Chris is from Rock Hill and is in Connecticut now, so he knows all the good hot dog/apizza/clam roll joints but gets a hankering for barbecue every now and again.

Nancy,

Thanks for the welcome and the advice about finding BBQ. I have read some of Chris's and others about good hot dog joints and have plenty of information for my next CT trip. This forum has already pointed out a NC barbeque place in another state (forgot which one but will look it up). It's always good to know where to find good food. Thanks again.

Hi everyone,

Found this site while looking for places in NYC to eat (as we are going there tomorrow for the day), a few days ago & I love it! I was born & raised in Phila., my husband from Newark & Nutley NJ. We've lived alot of places (9) while my husband was working for Corp.America. He retired (early) 6 yrs. ago and ended up in the Bucks County area of Pa.(Where our 2 daughters are, son is in Va.) We have our own travel agency, which we did part-time while hubby was working, now he does it full time.
We LOVE to travel and EAT! So do our 3 married children and 4 grandsons. We like trying the mom & pop type places to eat. Most times they are the best. We also have a place in Fla. and go there from end of Jan. thru beginning of April. We like driving down (taking different ways each time) and stopping at different places to try the food. (are you seeing a theme here, lol)
Looking forward to all the interesting advice on this site ~Ciao (no pun intended)

Millie

whoops, already posted in another area first

hi, i'm Shimmy. i live in the far northern burbs of Chicago with my BF, pseudo hubby, partner... you name it and our (together) four kids. a 16 year old boy, 7 year old boy and 3 year old twins, boy and girl. we also have two dogs and a cat. our new house rule is that nothing else that poops is allowed to live here.

the man and i, we love food. cooking and eating. we're both good cooks and love to experiment. rarely is there a recipe that we try that isn't modified, sometimes heavily.

from lurking here we have found so many places we want to go try out. thanks for the site and the great input!

Hi all, I'm FireLion comin atcha from Rosedale Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City, KS). I own a 4' X 8' teardrop trailer and enjoy being on the road, and I go camping as often as time and money will permit. I often eat at least one meal a day on the road when I'm travelling. I particularly like Peggys on hwy. 13 in Collins MO. Good country food, large portions for the money. My next trip, hopefully, will be the 3rd weekend in June to Petit Jean state park in Arkansas, a six hour drive from K.C. I'll be stopping about half way there for a meal. Any suggestions are appreciated. Oh man, I sure do miss those burger joints from the 60's. If you're in the KC area, Strouds Chicken just opened a new restaurant in Fairway, KS on Shawnee Mission Parkway. Non smoking, but the food is worth it.

everybody knows Rosedale, Lee. And Dagwood's. I used to be a Rosedaleian myself, though it is actually a district of KCK, not a separate town.
