Hi all - my alias here on the site is Isabelle, which is uncannily similar to my real name. I maintain the anonymity of my real name by adding the additional e at the end--but shhh, don't tell anyone or my cover will be SPOILED! (shiftily casting eyes left and right)

My boyfriend and I enjoy visiting non-chain restaurants when we travel. We really travel on our stomachs, unfortunately for mine, which seems to be getting wider. My personal favorite restaurant type is the old-school, supper-club type restaurant. I started writing about a few of them on a friends blog, Museum of Suburbia.

Road food is my go-to site--I check for any restaurants to visit whenever we're going on a road trip. I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more of the goodies on the official restaurant ratings--but then I'm reluctant to add some of my own, since I like their undiscovered ambiance (even though most of them have been around forever).

Other than that, my other big love is fruitcake, which I also write about on my blog, Mondo Fruitcake. Yes, it's the middle of summer, and I have 7 pounds of fruitcake in my fridge waiting to be reviewed. Also not great for the waistline. Ah well, that's what exercise is for . . .

Hey all.

I just recently stumbled upon this website while looking for a specific place in Nashville.  I am a firm believer at while traveling you need to check out where the locals eat.  Why would you travel 1000 miles to eat at a chain location.  Makes no sense!

I am an avid cookbook collector. Baker-it's a stress reliever! I work in the healthcare field and also bartend part time.  Looking forward to poking around here!

Hi! I just joined Roadfood.com. My name is Sue and we live in south central Louisiana, between Lafayette and New Orleans. My husband and I like to take a ride on the Harley to find different restaurants, diners, dives, cafe's to have a good Sunday lunch. We have eaten everything from Beignets in (New Orleans) to all the best fried seafood you can find in Louisiana. We eat anything from burgers to a complete meal, seems we never have room for dessert. So if anyone has any great restaurants or Mom and Pop type Cafe's in Louisiana that they want us to try, please post to me.  I have a list of good places: Yellow Bowl, Jeanerette, La; Landry's (Hwy90) Jeanerette, La; Bayou Delight, Houma, La; Fezzo's, Scott, La; Middendorf's, Manchac, La; Crawfish Town USA, Henderson, La; Pat's Fisherman's Wharf, Henderson, La; Steamboat Restaurant, Washington, La; Mr Lester's (Steakhouse) Cafe Bayou, Loco's, Rik Rak all located in Cypress Bayou Casino/Shorty's Charenton, La; The Cabin, Burnside, La. Thanks!

I just recently joined this site.  Looks like a very informative and fun place!  I'm a self-taught cook, but can't bake to save my life.  I collect cookbooks an I am always trying to one-up recipes to make them mo' betta.

I currently reside in the Land Of Cream Of Mushroom Soup - Minnesota.  Nothing to exciting going on up here culinary wise.  And to those I offend....sorry.  But after living in NY, LA, Chicago and the South for many years, I was spoiled by an array of culinary delights and all kinds of restaurants.

Hello to everyone!!

I'm Ralph Melton.

I was born and raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, so my native barbecue is beef brisket.

I've lived in Pittsburgh, PA for the last 16 years.

I first encountered Roadfood in the early 80s, when my parents brought a copy along on our family vacations. I've since used my own copy and the website on many of our own trips.

A stroke of luck led me to visit the Roadfood website when the front page was advertising the Buffalo-Rochester Roadfood trip, and I saw that it was within driving distance of Pittsburgh and signed up eagerly. I signed up to look for news about the impending trip, and have stayed to read the rest of the conversations.

How I became oDey in LA.

I flew Fighters in the  USMC, thus honing my aggressive behaviour skills. After my Corps days I then flew airline for over 30 years. In my latter years before retirement, I had chastised a younger pilot for demeaning the older and more senior pilots.(good naturedly as we always jokingly harrassed each other)

He responded:
"Why don't you old dogs bark before you bite"? So I instantly became Old Dog. Later one of the guys shorted it to oDey. Since I live in the Pensacola area my monicker then became "oDey in LA".

For those not familiar with the tradition, northwest Florida panhandle is referred to as Lower Alabama since we have absolutely NOTHING in common with Floridians.

oDey  in LA is the abbreviated version of Old Dog in Lower Alabama.

Funniest post in a week!   Glad to see you back  here....any new beer that you have had lately?

Greymo,
Yes, as a matter of fact... several!
For starters, Copper Creek Brewing Co., my local brewpub, has Festivus Ale on (Festivus = "A holiday for the rest of us). Also on tap there, while it lasts, is Triple Chocolate Xmas Stout. (Gad, it's yummy!)
Down at Trappeze, I was privy to a taste-in the other night that included Highland Imperial Black Mocha Stout (2008 edition -- the last bottle!) (9.5%), New Belgium Frambozen Raspberry Brown Ale (in bottle) (6.5%), and Rogue I 2 (squared) India Pale Ale (draft) (9.2%). -- And I was able to drive home!
Last night I tried Victory Yakima Twilight Ale on draft (8.7%).
Over the last few daze, I've also enjoyed Dogfish Head Chicory Stout (5.2%), Bell's Expedition Stout (10.5%), Terrapin Sunray Wheat (4.5%), and Bell's Oberon Ale (ca. 5.2%), all on draft. As an aside, my Bell's Oberon t-shirt is so old it says "Bell's Solsun Ale" instead!
A special keg of Schneider Aventinus Eisbock (12%) was tapped Thursday. I was only able to drink one, and it took me about an hour and a half to finish it... potent stuff, that.
So there you have it -- my recent beer travelogue. -- Steven, if you wanna move this to The Beverage Forum, please feel free to do so. I'll post a notice there, though, before I wander forth.
Unaleingly, Ort. Carlton, Keeping Warm in Athens, Georgia.

What's goin on RF peoples?  Just wanted to come through and introduce myself.  I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but now live in the DC area in Alexandria Virginia.  I found this website probably doing some kind of random search about a particular restaurant on a search engine.  I love food...as we all do.  I am the type of person that will eat anything or anywhere at least once.  I love my Midwest flavors still but DC is growing on me.  I'm always up for a good comparation discussion or photo posts topic
