Okay, okay. Mom drank her martinis on ice-me, when I drank them, ala Dad, the concoction was made with ice and then poured thru a strainer. The results were obviously cold. Always gin, by the way, never vodka. And lots of anchovy stuffed olives.

WarmBeer I'm a newbie also. Saw that thread but also saw that it is rather out of the way and not very responsive to new members (typically only 1 or 2 welcomes, often by the same core people). Seems like there should be a better way to do it. I'm a newbie too!! But people haven't been too welcoming. *ahem ahem* ^^ not pointing any fingers but uhh.. its comforting to know that there are other new people too!!

O.K, well I never did a formal introduction here.......and I recognize the importance of formality's & traditions....Sooo...I am hereby introducing myself to the Forum. Hi! My name is "HotDogEmpire". I like learning from others, Corn-dogs, cash payments, the struggle to keep up with customers and the eternal quest for the ultimate dog! I also like long walks on the beach, hot spicy chili, long lines (if i'm selling) and free rent on a high traffic venue! If this interest's you, PM me for further communication!!

I live in Orlando, Florida, but was raised in the NorVa area of D,C. There was a small franchise of restaurants called :Steak 'n' Egg Kitchen. It seems that one is still operating as "Osman and Joe's Steak 'n Egg kitchen, but I seem to remember there being quite a few of the small diners around DC and NoVa. I even remember seeing one here in Orlando around 1993, but it's gone. Can any one remember any of the originals somewhere near Arlington, and about what intersections they were near. An old friend is asking me, and I really would like to give her an answer, Thanks!

Hello everyone! I am brand new to the message board/forum, and I wanted to let you know about me. I retired from a major airline 3 years ago, lived in the Orlando, Florida area, but moved back to where I am from. The Jersey Shore. I live in a Beach Town where Time has stopped in the 1950's/1960's. We have many Mid Century Modern Motels (or as we call it 'Doo-Wop') design. This town is called Wildwood. I guess it's true what they say... 'You always return to your roots one way or another' I am of course a Lover of anything Mid-Century and My entire House is 1950's/1960's design from ceiling to floor including a Pink Refrig and a Aqua Stove (actually I have 2 refrig) the other one is Aqua. I collect original Aluminum Christmas Trees and now have 197 all sizes & colors with original boxes in my collection. Of course being a Flight Attendant allowed me to search the globe in search of more trees and other Mid-Century items. I am very happy that I found this Forum and look forward to adding to the great reading on here.

Tarot was probably more precisely a teaching game (which distinguishes it from regular playing cards); at least the earliest (14th Century) decks seem to have been designed that way. Bart

We stayed on the north end of town at the Acropolis Oceanview Resort. The hotel could use some updating, but it was clean, and the pool was spectacular. I Started a thread on Wildwood in the "where to eat" forum. We had some really good eats, enjoyed the clean ocean water and white sand, and the family friendly boardwalk. All in all, a great get away.

Hello everyone, I've been lurking around the site for a couple weeks now and have found a ton of useful information. Before I go asking a bunch of questions I'll do my best to wear out the search function. Having said that, is there any kind of different levels of search privelages that are allowed for members? I've put in a couple words recently such as "sysco" and "cold table" that ended up giving me a error page and said I didn'thave proper permissions. I tried the searches in individual sections and in the forum as a whole with the same results... Is it something I'm doing wrong or are there certain words that are not allowed? Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance. Derrick

mar52 Welcome, Derrick. Sorry, but I don't have the answers to your questions. Start posting! I've already found a bunch of answers for questions I never even tought of, but the searching problems are what is throwing me off. I've read a bunch of topics that had the word "sysco" in them for whatever reason, so I know I'm not the first person to talk about it but for some reason I am unable to search the term...

I think you might have to be here a month and make 30 posts prior to using some of Roadfood's functions. Keep looking and keep posting!

derrick36: Welcome to Roadfood! This is sysco: http://www.sysco.com/ What were you looking for? In order to minimize spam, some words "set off red flags" for the newer poster. Sometimes you can get around them by putting extra spaces in your query.

Sometimes you can get around them by putting extra spaces in your query. Thanks for the help! I'll give that a shot. At the time I wasn't looking for anything real specific with Sysco. Really I was just looking for general experiences and any helpful tips for anyone looking at using their services. I may have had pricing questions as well but I quickly realized that those types of quesitons are pretty pointless due the differences(regional, volume, etc). I've since located local(Seattle)Sysco establishmet so I can always give them a call with any direct questions. I've got plenty of other things to worry about before I get into pricing questions, and I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Again, thanks for the help! Derrick

I just saw this, I joined last year, I call myself LadyGodiva because I used to work at Godiva Chocolatier right here in Northeast Ohio., I also have long hair which I have cut every two years and donate to the charity Locks of Love that make wigs for kids with lukemia. I started off as a lurker at first after looking for Merrimints on the internet, and it lead me to this wonderous website,, absolutely love this place, this is a fun and informative sight. I do consider my self a foodie,

Any other Philadelphians here? I live in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia and I'm always looking for great food. I'm mostly into sandwiches, Chinese, Mexican, pizza, burgers ... not much into fancy restaurants. Hopefully somebody can provide me with some hidden gems and I can do the same.
