NIU/De Kalb, IL suggestions?

I might be traveling to the NIU Convocation Center in De Kalb, IL and am wondering if there are any good places along Lincoln Highway/IL-38 from Rochelle east to IL-23 or so.  The only place I remember is Sgt. Pepper's Pizza but that's from years ago and I'm not sure if it's even still around.  Thanks!

This LTHforum poster works at NIU and lives in the area, she's done a nice job of covering the area. We are in DeKalb 3-4 times a year and never seem to find anything that suits us despite the places razbry has listed. I have mobility issues and that dictates where I can go anymore, steps rule me out.

A few high school friends went to NIU and I visited them on a couple of occasions.  I remember walking into McCabe's with them but don't ever remember walking out...
 
Pizza Villa turned up on Google so it's definitely toward the top of the list.  The stretch of Lincoln Highway from campus eastward seems to have quite a selection of eating places so while everybody else is at the Convocation Center maybe I'll just wander around and eat.

Right around Annie Glidden Road and Route 38 are a lot of chains, as to be expected at the south edge of campus, but there is a little Mexican place on the Southwest corner that has intrigued me but I've never tried. The Junction is right there too just off the Southeast corner and that's one of razbry's suggestions. .

In DeKalb, Illinois there is a Maid-Rite hamburger place.  Carolina Bob directed me there two summers ago.  The chain is based in Iowa, and they serve a rather unique hamburger.  Think of a sloppy joe without the sauce.  I nicknamed it a "crumble-burger."

Last year I tried their most eastern outpost near Dayton, Ohio.  It was the same hamburger but it was a pretty filthy place.  The one in DeKalb is very nice and elegant.
