NM BBQ owner passes away

I tried eating at Powdrell's BBQ at the Central Avenue location in Albuquerque last night, but the sign on the front said, "Closed on Saturday for Mr. Powdrell's funeral".

Here is the obituary from the Albuquerque Tribune:

Under the comments, one person wrote, "The BBQ in heaven just got a whole lot better."

Here is the Roadfood review of his restaurant:

Pop Powdrell enjoyed serving his lovingly prepared barbecue.
I agree, "The barbecue in heaven just got a whole lot better"

    Rouxdog-
Sounds like you might have met Mr. Powdrell?

By the way, the location that is normally open on Sunday was closed today also.

I went to Powdrells once, last year, and really enjoyed my visit there. I wouldn't rank it top shelf, but for central New Mexico, it was very much above average.
