NYC street food

The 6/25/07 edition of NEW YORK MAGAZINE has a couple of great articles about NYC street food, including the 20 top-ranked street carts. Nowhere can you find more variety and authenticity. Lots of pics, too.
If only I was 20 years younger, and 40 pounds lighter.

Here's the link, if anyone's interested:

    http://nymag.com/restaurants/features/33527/

The top 5 are all in Queens, and 4 out of the top 5 are in Jackson Heights (the 5th is just a few blocks outside Jackson Heights). Must be why Spiderman lives there!

Also, Dogmatic Dogs made the list. I believe the proprietor is a sometime contributor to this forum?

I am sorry, but this article is another "Best Pizza in the Valley" article. There is no methodology given. In the absence of other evidence, I consider this article the sole opinion of the writers Robin Raisfeld and Rob Patronite.

I do not give this article any more weight than a post to Roadfood.com by Robin Raisfeld and/or Rob Patronite.

    And your point is?
Any list of "best" or "favorite" anything is subject to debate for any number of reasons. Methodology, how the participants were involved (volunteers? randomly chosen? paid?), size of sample, etc, ect, etc.
I'm glad to have the info; and I never expect somebody else's opinion to be the same as mine or even necessarily accurate.

My point: Somebody coming down from the mountain with the Holy Grail.

Did anyone from New York Mag go up to Zerega Avenue in the Bronx to see what was going on up there?

jokers819, I re-read the New York Mag article and did not see Freddy Donnely's name mentioned. Funny how the top 5 in New York Mag's article are all in Queens and 4 of those are in Jackson Heights, Queens. The reason I brought up Zerega Avenue in the Bronx is because of a post I made here a few years ago. It concerns Sabrett natural casings frankfurters that started to bear a USDA plant number of 7879. Before that, they bore a plant number of 850. According to a buddy of mine, the natural casing Sabrett franks started coming out of a plant bordering Zarega Avenue in the Bronx after the original plant in Jersey City, NJ was razed to make way for a school built by the City of Jersey City, NJ.
