NYC to Cooperstown, NY via Route 28 in the Catskills: interesting food stops?

I'm going to be doing a road trip in a few weeks to Glimmerglass, and need somewhere for lunch, and also maybe one or two leg-stretch stops. Heading up the Taconic, crossing the river at Poughkeepsie, then up 87 to Route 28 up to 88. So interesting places along Route 28 or thereabouts. The New Paltz thread seems a little out of date. My preference would be something not too heavy or greasy, at least for lunch. Bakeries or other interesting stops, no such limitations.

Welcome (to posting) on Roadfood, ewindels!! Brooks' House of Bar-B-Q is a great stop in Oneonta. Their Cornell style BBQ chicken is a local specialty. Here is my Trip Report from 2008. http://www.roadfood.com/F...50572&high=oneonta The Neptune Diner in Oneonta was great as well. I can't say anything about their lunch as we were there for breakfast.

Try the Pine View Bakery in Shokan (on Route 28). Great fresh bread, and try their raisin bread challah french toast.

Folks, this is great (particularly Bread Alone). Any thoughts on potential lunch places in the Kingston / New Paltz area?

A couple of places in Phoenicia: 1.) Brio's Restaurant/Pizzeria - I went there in 2009 after tubing on the Esopus River with some friends. Good pizza. It shares space with a Mexican restaurant which I think has the same owners and possibly the same kitchen. http://www.yelp.com/biz/b...d-restaurant-phoenicia 2.) Sweet Sue's Restaurant - This was our first choice when I found out they had pancakes but we arrived just as they were closing. I took some pics of the cool pancake artwork on the walls and I hope to get back to try them. http://www.yelp.com/biz/s...s-restaurant-phoenicia (There are some pictures of the pancake artwork included in this listing - not mine) Hope this helps!
