I heard someone sing "Trouble with a wide-tread tire" for "Come on, baby, light my fire." And "You build up my fences" for "You fill up my senses" (personally, I prefer the former).

But getting back again to the beer jingles - this was another New England one:

I don't know where I'm going
But I remember where I've been
So take a glass, my friend
And talk to me of home . . . . . of home.

I think it was Narragansett beer.

Yes, back to beer:

Hey! Get your cold beer!
Hey! Get your Ballantine beer!
Ballantine, Ballantine beer.

and from the same company:

Who is the ale man?
He could be you!

I'm so behind! I spent too much time on the Disney thread! There is a website for misheard lyrics and a number of books (Scuse me while I kiss this guy). My favorite is from some metal song (My mind is racin but my body's in the lead) that was misheard as "My mind is bacon but my body's Sizzlean.

That McDonald's song just gave me a flashback!

How about:

Toffifay, it's too good for kids
Toffifay was made for grown-ups
It's all the candies you like in one
Toffifay it's too good for kids

And the very creepy:

Whatever it is I think I see becomes a Tootsie roll to me.

I forgot all about the cigarette ads----LSMFT

Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco -- but that's not what we said in 5th grade.

C'mon Grampy,

You know what LSMFT really meant......loose straps me flabby (fill in the blank).

It is amazing how such obscure knowledge is so universal. And I do recall that "Anticipation, it's making me wait" became "Constipation, etc.", and the Chiquita Banana tune had something to do with killing your teacher the "easy way." Meanwhile, the McDonald's theme went something like this:
McDonald's was our kind of place,
until we burnt the place.
We burnt the whole place down.
We even burnt the clown.

I'm sure that as kids we mangled any number of jingles.

We learned it:
McDonald's is their kind of place.
It's such a big disgrace.
Hamburgers in your face.
They steal your parking place.
McDonald's is their kind of place.
A nasty Change of Pace.
McDonald's is their kind of place.

Parenthetically, or might that be (Parenthetically....)

It's not a food song, but I am headin' towards 46 and my 10-year-old still sings that timeless gigglin' favorite, "Jingle Bells/Batman Smells."

Plus, there is apparently a young girl singer who had a big song sometime recently that contained the line: "Why does everything have to be so complicated?" (Or words to that effect. . .) My son and his compadres sing it: "Why does everybody have to be so constipated?"

I know this is vague, but gimme a break -- I'm a jazz-and-classical person, mostly. Sushi or somebody more "in tune" with current pop music may be able to help this be less vague.

We sang:

Come smoke a Coke Cola,
Drink ketchup cigarettes,
Watch Lillian Russell wrestle,
A box of oyeterettes.

Oh, please don't squeeze the bananas.
Cause when you do that,
Buddy you make them flat.

I'm dreaming of a tight Christmas
Just like the one I used to know.
There's no pot to piss in,
The turkey's missin,
We'll soon be eating yellow snow.

Deck the halls with schmaltz and challahs,
Tis the season to eat latkes.

The bigger the burger
The better the burger
The burgers are bigger

The Holsum Bread Song

At three in the morning
When you're in bed
The Holsum bakers
Are baking bread

And that is the reason
It tastes so good
Like oven baked Holsum Bread should

It's just like grandmother's bread used to be
Because they use grandma's recipe

H O L S U M
H O L S U M
H O L S U M
Holsum Bread

Tut, tut, nuttin but,
Butternut Bread

McDonald is our kind of place!
Hamburgers in your face!
French fries right up your nose
Mustard between your toes

Ketchup running down your back
I want my money back
Before I have a heart attack

That's how we sang it in the sixties in Colorado. Are these regional?

Dearfolk,
Now -- does anyone remember the record that carried the Chiquita song a lightyear further - "Juanita Banana" by The Peels? The soprano lead-in was used to divide segments (it was Grandmother's voice) in "Batman And His Grandmother" by Dickie Goodman. I have both the 45s,lucky me.

Let's not forget:

Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream,
Take your teacher,
Throw her in,
And listen to her scream.

And

Don't throw stones at your mother,
It might make her poor heart break,
Don't throw stones at your brother,
Not even to keep him awake,
Don't throw stones at your sister,
It might make a hole in her head,
Don't throw stones at anybody,
Chuck a brick at your teacher, instead!

And the song we always sang on the last day of school before summer vacation:

School's out, schools'out,
Teacher let the monkeys out,
One jumped in,
One jumped out,
One jumped in the teacher's mout.
